The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is a world-class cricket ground located in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Established in 2003, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has a maximum capacity of around 40,000 and is the home ground of the Indian T20 League franchise Team Hyderabad.

Also known as the Uppal Stadium, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is owned and operated by Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

The HCA previously staged its home matches at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in the Fateh Maidan Sports Complex in central Hyderabad.

Visaka Industries Limited won the open auction for the funding of the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium with a bid worth ďż˝?5,00,00,000. It was named as Visakha International Cricket Stadium in 2004 after a sum of ďż˝?3,00,00,000 was paid in advance.

However, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy changed the name of the stadium to Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in memory of Rajiv Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India. HCA later acquired the stadium by paying an amount of ďż˝?3,00,00,000 to Visakkha.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium staged its first international match, a One-Day International (ODI) played between India and South Africa in November 2005. The visitors won the ODI by five wickets.

Five years later, it hosted its first Test match that featured India and New Zealand which ended in a draw.

Later in December 2019, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium staged its first T20 international played between India and West Indies. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, India won the first T20I at the venue by six wickets. Since then, it has hosted one more T20I so far.

The India vs England cricket rivalry is one of the most enthralling rivalries in the sport.

The two teams first met in 1932 when the Indian cricket team toured England for a one-off Test.

Under the title of “All-India? India were led by C.K.Nayudu while Douglas Jardine captained England. The hosts won the Test by 158 runs at the iconic Lord’s.

Later in 1974, India and the England cricket team met for the first time in a one-day international (ODI) match in Leeds. Under the leadership of Mike Denness, England beat the Ajit Wadekar-led India by four wickets.

Almost three decades later, India and England clashed in their first T20I meeting in the inaugural T20 World Cup in Durban in 2007.

Led by MS Dhoni, India defeated Paul Collingwood’s England by 18 runs in the T20 World Cup 2007 group match. Since then, both countries have engaged in several Test, ODI and T20I matches.

India and England have locked horns on 267 occasions at the international level to date with the latter having a better head-to-head record in Test cricket.

However, India holds a better head-to-head record against England in ODI and T20I cricket history.

With that being said, let’s have a look at India vs England head-to-head in cricket.

Indian T20 League, the most-watched cricket league in the world, usually sets explosive batting and powerful hitting as the centre of attention. What the fans tend to overlook, though, is the fact that bowlers are actually the trump cards, who are equally capable of dictating the pace of the game.

Since its inception in 2008, the league has seen some of the most breathtaking bowling performances and these five players dominate the list of tournament’s all-time top wicket-takers.

Most wickets in Indian T20 League

5. Ravichandran Ashwin

Having been loyal to just one Indian T20 League side, the right-arm off-break bowler has notched 180 wickets in 177 games at an average of 25.39. The lead spinner for team Kolkata is also one of the few bowlers in the league with seven four-wicket hauls to his name.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Playing for the Hyderabad franchise in the 2024 season of the Indian T20 League, India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a vital cog for this team. In the course of 176 matches across seasons, Bhuvneshwar has scalped 181 wickets at an average of 27.23 and an economy rate of 7.56.

3. Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo, who is one of the two players to have won the Purple Cap twice in the league, started his career with Mumbai before moving to MS Dhoni-led Chennai in 2011. Having played 14 seasons, the West Indies cricketer picked 183 wickets in 161 matches while holding an economy of 8.38.

2. Piyush Chawla

Having played for Punjab from 2008 till 2013, leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was roped in by Kolkata in 2014, and he performed well for them before joining Team Mumbai. In 192 matches so far, Chawla surpasses Bravo's record to have scalped 192 wickets. He holds an average of 26.6 and an economy rate of 7.96.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal

The fourth Indian spinner in this top five, no bowler has taken more wickets in the Indian T20 League than Yuzvendra Chahal. The tricky right-arm spinner boasts plenty of variations and can turn the ball a long way. In 160 games so far, he's taken 205 wickets at an impressive average of 22.45 and an economy of 7.84.

IND vs PAK Dream11 prediction for Asia Cup 2022

Placed in Group A, India and Pakistan are the top two teams of the continental tournament.

India have a superior head-to-head record against Pakistan in Asia Cup history, winning eight of the 14 matches that they have played so far. Pakistan have managed just five victories while one match ended in no result.

The two sides have clashed only once in the T20I format of the Asia Cup, with MS Dhoni-led India claiming a five-wicket win in Bangladesh in 2016.

Furthermore, India have dominated Pakistan in the T20I format, securing wins in six of the nine matches that they have clashed so far. Pakistan have secured just two victories.

However, the last time these sides met, Pakistan thrashed India by 10 wickets during the ICC T20 World Cup group match in Dubai in 2021.

Going by past head-to-head record, India will have an edge over Pakistan heading into Sunday’s marquee clash.

Yuzvendra Chahal is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket, with 72 wickets in 57 matches.

The spinner, who grabbed a wicket on his T20I debut for the Indian cricket team against Zimbabwe in 2016, has grown into one of the key bowlers for the Men in Blue in 20-overs cricket in recent years.

The 31-year-old has enjoyed bowling against Sri Lanka and England in T20 Internationals, having scalped 17 and 12 wickets against the teams, respectively.

As a matter of fact, England is the opponent against whom Chahal registered his best performance.

Yuzvendra Chahal best bowling figures in T20Is

2017 - 6/25 vs England

Chasing a target of 203 set by India, England lost their first wicket in the second over as Chahal dismissed Sam Billings for a duck. The Indian spinner would come to find more victims when he returned to bowl in the 14th over, claiming the important scalps of Eoin Morgan (13.3 overs) and Joe Root (13.4 overs) in succession.

His next set of wickets came in his final over as he dismissed Moeen Ali (15.1 overs), Ben Stokes (15.4 overs) and Chris Jordan (15.6 overs) to reduce England to 127/8.

2017 - 4/23 and 4/52 vs Sri Lanka

His next best spells in T20I cricket came against Sri Lanka, with four-wicket hauls in successive matches in December 2017.

Chahal grabbed a 4/23 in the opening match of the three-game T20I series at Cuttack. The spinner took his first wicket in the fifth over, with his delivery forcing Upul Tharanga to attempt a sweep shot that unfortunately got a thin inside-edge onto the pad and went straight towards MS Dhoni.

His next three victims were Angelo Mathews (7.2 overs), Asela Gunaratne (9 overs) and Thisara Perera (11.1 overs).

After his splendid performance at Cuttack, Yuzvendra Chahal took another four-fer against the visiting Lankan Lions in the second T20I at Indore.

Chahal made a breakthrough in the second half of Sri Lanka’s run chase of 261. His caught and bowled dismissal of Upul Tharanga in the 14th over effectively brought the curtains down on a 109-run stand for the second wicket between Tharanga and Kusal Perera.

The leg-break bowler would add three more scalps, with the dismissals of Chaturanga de Silva, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Akila Dananjaya coming in the 16th over where Chahal conceded nine runs. He ended his spell with figures of 4/52.

2018 - 3/18 vs Bangladesh

This fixture is of special significance for Yuzvendra Chahal as his efforts helped India beat Bangladesh in the final of the Tri-series involving Sri Lanka.

Having opted to field first, Chahal got his first wicket as Tamim Iqbal lobbed his delivery towards Shardul Thakur who stood on the very edge of the long-on boundary. Thakur, in turn, completed the catch just avoiding falling behind the rope.

Chahal would end the over with his second scalp as Soumya Sarkar swept towards square leg only for Shikhar Dhawan to collect it.

At the start of the 11th over, the 31-year-old bowled a googly for Mushfiqur Rahim who miscued it and the ball, which hit the top edge of the bat, went up in the air. Vijay Shankar completed the catch successfully with a dive to his right.

2022 - 3/20 vs South Africa

After below-par showings in the opening two games of the 2022 India vs South Africa T20I series, Yuzvendra Chahal returned to his best with bowling figures of 3/20.

The spinner forged a good partnership with captain Rishabh Pant, as they combined to dismiss Rassie van der Dussen (6.5 overs) and Dwaine Pretorius (8.6 overs).

Both the batters saw Chahal bowl to them with a little drift on the ball. It hit the edge of their bats and Pant took the catches behind the stumps.

The 31-year-old’s final victim of the night was Heinrich Klaasen, who ballooned Yuzvendra Chahal’s full delivery towards extra cover where Axar Patel took the catch.

Established in 1958, the Barabati Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Cuttack, Odisha.

Operated by the Odisha Cricket Association, the Cuttack stadium is used for cricket, football, hockey and also for live concerts.

It is one of the oldest cricket grounds in India, having hosted several touring teams including the MCC, the West Indies and Australian cricket teams before it staged its first international match in the 1980s.

The venue hosted its first international match between India and England in the ODI format in January 1982. Since then, it has staged 19 ODIs, two Tests and as many T20I international matches.

The Barabati Stadium has also hosted seven Indian T20 League matches and fixtures of the now-defunct Odisha Premier League. It was also one of the grounds which hosted the 2013 Women's Cricket World Cup.

The 48,000-seat stadium also has an indoor cricket hall named after India cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

T20I cricket will return to the Barabati Stadium after four years as the Indian cricket team will host South Africa on June 12. The last time India played a T20I match in Cuttack, the hosts thrashed Sri Lanka by 93 runs.
