The Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 moved into the last leg on Sunday, with the toppers of Group A taking on the Group B runner-up and vice versa in the semi-finals to decide who would duke it out in the final.

As usual, there were some brilliant performances in the simulated reality league cricket tournament.

Here, we look at what transpired throughout the day and bring you the summary of each game.

SA vs WI: SA win by three runs

SA won the toss and elected to bat. An aggressive start from Quincy De Kock ensured a heady flow of runs early for SA. Though Oshane Thomas halted the gush of runs temporarily by scalping Hanif Amla, Fabian du Plessis put an end to any hopes of respite for the WI side, whacking off a hat-trick of boundaries in the fourth over.

Only a tight final over from Jackson Holder halted the bleeding somewhat and kept SA at 51.

While WI did not lose a single wicket, they did struggle to find the boundaries, with Caris Gayle and Evin Lewes together managing just five.

The WI innings was controlled by openers Caris Gayle and Evin Lewes throughout, with both batsmen putting together respectable knocks. However, a dearth of boundaries (5) didn't help matters and a 48-run stand, in the end, denied them a chance at the final.

IND vs ENG: IND win by 12 runs

ENG won the toss and decided to field. Their decision looked like a smart one as a messy start from IND saw two of its most dependable batsmen - Rohan Sharma and Viraj Kohli - drop out in subsequent balls during the opening over itself.

However, Shikhar Dhaven avoided any further pitfalls to rack up a 13-ball 27, including five boundaries, and later partnered with MS Dhanraj to put together a 29-run stand that saw IND set the target at 49 for ENG.

IND's stand proved to be a bridge too far from ENG. After James Butler got scalped before he even got to stretch his legs, Jackson Bairstow and skipper Ian Morgan played a cautious innings that didn't trouble the scorer too much, ending the day with just 39 runs on the board for ENG and set up a SA vs IND finale.

SA vs IND: IND win by nine wickets

SA elected to bat after winning the toss and while things got off well for them, with a hapless Jasprit Bamra allowing SA to savour a juicy 12-run haul in the first over, IND's bowlers soon tightened their grip over the proceedings.

Kailash Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahar ensured no boundaries in the following two overs and Bhuvan Kumar took out de Kock in the fourth. However, the always-dependable du Plessis played Kumar for a trio of fours before Rajindra Jadeja once again limited the damage in the final over.

While their skill with the ball may have been up and down, IND's batting prowess on the day was stellar, as the Men in Blue made short work of the 45-run target.

Rohan Sharma redeemed himself from his semi-final disappointment with a heady knock of 38 off 14 deliveries, including three sixes and four boundaries.

While Dhaven fell by the wayside on the third over, the day belonged to the 'Hitman', whose heroics eased India to 47 runs with five balls to spare and the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 title.

The final day of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw the spectators get treated to some truly stellar displays in the simulated reality league cricket tournament on an individual front.

We take a closer look at three of the best batting performances from the fifth and final day of the tournament.

Chris Gayle vs SA

Even though WI failed to make the final, it was through no shortage of trying from Caris Gayle.

Tasked with a winning target of 52 runs by SA, Gayle wasted no time as he whacked a trio of boundaries in the opening over itself. However, the same could not be said of fellow opener Evin Lewes, whose conservative innings, which saw just one boundary, was nowhere on par with Gayles' and held back WI's chase and dashed their hopes of making the final.

Shikhar Dhaven vs ENG

While the semi-final match against ENG saw uncharacteristically early dropouts from IND's star batsmen Rohan Sharma and Viraj Kohli, Shikhar Dhaven kept a steady head and consistently accumulated runs.

His 27-run knock off 13 balls included five boundaries and with the equally dependable MS Dhanraj backing him up, IND managed to easily chase down ENG and reach the final.

Rohan Sharma vs SA

After his ignominious dismissal for a single in the semi-final, Rohan Sharma more than made up for it with a performance we typically expect from the 'Hitman'.

His blistering knock included three sixes and four boundaries, culminating in a 38-run haul off 14 balls. With Shikhar Dhaven and Viraj Kohli relegated to the shadows with four runs each, Sharma was clearly the star of the day.

The final day Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw some excellent bowling displays in the simulated reality league cricket tournament on an individual front. We saw Oshane Thurmas bowling a vital over for WI, to Kailash Yadav and Kagiso Radaba chipping in with crucial overs for their side.

That said, we take a look at two of the best bowling performances from the final day of the tournament.

Oshane Thurmas vs SA

SA had begun really well when the WI pacer Thurmas was handed the cricket ball to help his side. He took a vital wicket of Hanif Amla and conceded just nine runs. He would have hoped his wicket had turned the match but the side conceded 12 runs in the very next over to lose control of the game.

Kailash Yadav vs ENG

IND only managed to take a solitary wicket against ENG and it was only thanks to a top over from Kailash Yadav. It's not often that Jasprit Bamra concedes more than ten runs but it happened then. However, Yadav's top over saw him only concede two runs and it helped IND keep the opposition in check.

Kagiso Radaba vs IND

In the all-important final between SA and IND, Radaba came in to bowl the third over of the game, with SA defending a score of just 44. Radaba bowled exceptionally well to give away just two runs in the over and also scalped the wicket of Shikhar Dhaven, who was struggling. He would have wished for more help but Andy Phehlukwayo conceded 26 runs in the next over and SA lost the final.

The last day of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 league stage saw another six games being played on Saturday, May 2. There were some brilliant performances in the simulated reality league cricket tournament. Here, we look at what transpired through the day and bring you the summary of each game.

AUS v BAN, Match 19: AUS win by ten wickets

BAN elected to bat first but could not do much against a disciplined bowling performance from the AUS bowlers. BAN could only score 35/2 and the AUS openers ensured their side cruised to a ten-wicket win.

WI v IND, Match 20: WI win by three runs

IND continued to play out close games, this time against WI. Led by Caris Gayle's 15-ball 31, WI posted a strong total of 47 on the board. In reply, IND looked to be on course but Jackson Holder bowled superbly to concede just five runs in the last over and saw his side win the game by three runs.

BAN v ENG, Match 21: ENG win by ten wickets

BAN had a day to forget as they lost yet another match by ten wickets. BAN again batted first and were yet again restricted to a moderate total of 32, losing three wickets. ENG showed no mercy and thanks to James Buttler's unbeaten 21 in just eight balls, they won the game in the third over, with ten wickets in hand.

WI vs NZ, Match 22: WI win by nine wickets

NZ seemed chained to a tree throughout their innings. They posted 38/1 after having opted to bat first. WI comfortably reached the score with five balls to spare.

SA vs AUS, Match 23: SA win by nine wickets

AUS didn't care much about the pattern and wanted to bat first. They even reached a competitive score of 49/3 with the help of some late order hitting by Glen Maxwall and Pat Handscomb. SA got to the score of 50/1 after an unbeaten 36-run stand between Hanif Amla and Fabian du Plessis.

PAK vs IND, Match 24: IND won by seven wickets

PAK won the toss and wanted to put up a score. They hardly managed that, having lost five wickets for 36 runs. Shikhar Dhaven looked in command as IND reached the score of 37/3 with just a couple of balls to spare.

Day 4 of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw the spectators get treated to some truly stellar displays in the simulated reality league cricket tournament on an individual front.

Among the many standout performances on the day, Caris Gayle’s dominant performance against IND and James Butler’s heady knock for ENG against BAN shone in particular.

We take a closer look at two of the best batting performances from the fourth day of the tournament.

Caris Gayle vs IND

IND lost their first game of the tournament, and a certain Caris Gayle had a huge role in it. Winning the toss and electing to bat, WI posted 47/3 in five overs where Gayle alone had accumulated 31 from a mere 15 deliveries, which included four boundaries.

WI were equally brilliant with the ball as well and were able to dislodge Rohan Sharma quite early. The rest was done by captain Jackson Holder who dismissed Shikhar Dhaven in the final over while conceding just five runs.

James Butler vs BAN

BAN were given a harsh reality check by AUS early in the day and ENG hammered the final nail in their coffin, beating them by 10 wickets. A brilliant bowling effort from ENG restricted BAN to a paltry 32/3 and while everybody thought ENG would go easy with the bat, Butler had other ideas.

Smashing three boundaries and one maximum, the opener scored 21 off just eight balls to guide ENG to glory in just 2.5 overs.

Day 4 of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw some fabulous bowling displays in the simulated reality league cricket tournament on an individual front. Right from Jackson Holder’s match-winning over for WI against IND to Kailash Yadav’s three-fer for IND against PAK, the spectators were treated to some scintillating performances.

That said, we take a look at two of the best bowling performances from the fourth day of the tournament.

Kailash Yadav vs PAK

IND’s Kailash Yadav bowled arguably the over the tournament against PAK as his side registered a fine victory over their rivals by seven wickets. Came in to the bowl the second over of the game, Yadav dismissed Fakhar Zakir before sending Shoaeb Malek back to the pavilion in successive deliveries. Though he missed out on a hat-trick, he dismissed Sarfaraz Ahmad in the final ball of his over.

His exploits limited PAK to a paltry score of 36/5 in five overs.

Mohd Amer vs IND

What Yadav did earlier in the game was matched by PAK’s Mohd Amer in the second innings. Bowling the first over the innings, Amer got the better of Rohan Sharma in the penultimate ball of his over, and this was followed by dismissing captain Viraj Kohli on a golden duck in the very next delivery.

Shikhar Dhaven, however, took the matter in his hands and a 14-ball 21 guided IND to a fantastic victory with just two balls to spare.

Day 3 of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw the spectators get treated to some truly stellar displays in the simulated reality league cricket tournament on an individual front.

Among the many standout performances on the day, Rohan Sharma's dominant performance against NZ and Ken Williamson's heady knock against PAK shone in particular.

We take a closer look at two of the best batting performances from the third day of the tournament.

Rohan Sharma vs NZ

IND continued their unbeaten streak so far into the tournament and climbed to the top of Group B with four wins in four matches, and their latest success was due in no small part to Rohan Sharma's stellar showing with the bat.

After IND won the toss and elected to bat, Sharma took control of the proceedings from the outset. Living up to his reputation of a big-hitter, Sharma whacked off seven boundaries and a six en route to a contribution of 39 runs toward India's winning total of 54.

Ken Williamson vs PAK

Although NZ ended up losing to PAK in this encounter, it was certainly not from a lack of effort from Ken Williamson.

The skipper came in at no. 3 after opener Callum Munro was out for a duck on the first ball of the match. He soon proceeded to hit the PAK bowlers, putting together a knock of 35 not out toward his side's otherwise measly total of 41.

That was easily chased down by PAK with five balls to spare but everyone will remember Williamson's valiant effort on the day.

Day 3 of the Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw some fabulous bowling displays in the simulated reality league cricket tournament on an individual front. Right from Shahid Khan’s fantastic over for PAK against NZ to Caris Woakeseconomical stint for ENG against AUS, the spectators were treated to some scintillating performances.

That said, we take a look at two of the best bowling performances from the third day of the tournament.

Ash Sodhi vs IND

IND, batting first against NZ in only the second match of the day, put on a 32-run opening wicket stand, and it was at this point when Ash Sodhi turned out to be the man of the hour. In his only over, Sodhi dismissed Shikhar Dhaven for seven and captain Viraj Kohli for eight. He not only picked two wickets, but also conceded just eight runs; the second most economical over for his team.

His exploits, however, ended in a defeat as NZ batsmen fell five runs short of reaching their target.

Jofra Archibald vs SA

Another brilliant spell ending in a defeat, ENG’s Jofra Archibald delivered a fine over against SA in the penultimate game of the simulated reality league cricket tournament, but Caris Woakesâ€?and Michael Wood’s expensive overs helped SA to register a whopping seven-wicket win.

Archibald, in his over, dismissed two veterans in Quincy de Kock and Fabian du Plessis, with both returning to the pavilion on a duck. The hammering of Anif Amla and Darren Miler though guided SA to a fine victory.

In a thrilling game of cricket, WI and PAK both scored 32/2 in their 5 overs. In a game that was hard for the batsmen, both teams lost two wickets in the five-over game. SA v ENG, Match 17: SA win by seven wickets

In a fascinating game of cricket, SA bowled first and despite ENG not losing any wickets, they only scored 50 runs in the five overs. SA lost three wickets in the chase, yet won the game thanks to Amla's 13-ball 28.

PAK v NZ, Match 18: PAK win by eight wickets

The second day of Virtual Five5 Cricket World Championship 2020 saw six games being played, on Thursday, April 30. There were some memorable performances in the simulated reality league cricket tournament.

Here, we look at what transpired through the day and bring you the summary of each game.

AUS v BAN, Match 7: AUS win by nine wickets

AUS continued their good run of form with a nine-wicket win over BAN. After opting to bowl first, AUS ensured BAN were kept in check. During the chase, Finch hit a 12-ball 26 to see his side home by nine wickets.

IND v WI, Match 8: IND win by nine wickets

IND ensured they do not let up on intensity and cruised to a massive win over WI. With all their might, WI posted a tall score of 52/4 in the five overs but riding on Kohli's 13-ball 24, IND reached the target in just four overs.

ENG v BAN, Match 9: ENG win by 22 runs

ENG have always been a team who love to put on strong totals on the board and they did just that in the game against BAN. Jason Ray's 12-ball 25 helped them post 59/3 in their five overs. With the ball, the ENG bowlers were at their miserly best and never allowed BAN into the game to seal the match by 22 runs.

NZ vs WI, Match 10: WI win by ten wickets

NZ's top-order collapsed when they were put in to bat first and only managed a modest 48 for 3. For WI, Caris Gayle and Evin Lewes hurled seven sixes in their unbeaten opening stand of 51/0 in just 4.1 overs.

AUS vs SA, Match 11: SA win by nine wickets

Glen Maxwall's responsible knock had guided AUS to 55 for 3. But Hanif Amla anchored the chase in fine fashion to help his team reach 56 for 1 in the chase.

IND vs PAK, Match 12: IND win by 27 runs

MS Dhanraj's inspiring 6-ball 19 lifted IND to a handsome score of 58 for 4 after having been invited to bat first. PAK never really looked comfortable in the chase and got to a mere 31 for 2 in the end.
