England national football team captain Harry Kane has now scored 200 league goals in his Tottenham Hotspur career, a record for the most Premier League goals for a single club.

Kane made his Premier League debut at 19 years and 21 days during Tottenham’s 1-2 defeat to Newcastle United in 2012. The striker scored his first-ever English Premier League goal for Spurs in a 5-1 victory over Sunderland in 2014.

Since then, Harry Kane has averaged 20 goals per Premier League season right up to 2021-22.

Besides winning the Golden Boot in 2015-16 (25 goals) and 2016-17 (29 goals), Harry Kane’s best Premier League campaign came in 2017/2018, where he scored 30 goals.

Interestingly, Kane’s record-breaking 185th goal was also his 250th career goal for Tottenham Hotspur across all competitions.

Sergio Aguero, Manchester City’s all-time record goalscorer in history, previously held the record for most Premier League goals for a single club.

The Argentine forward, who retired in 2021, scored 184 goals during his time in the Premier League between 2011 and 2021.

Aguero is best remembered for his stoppage-time goal in the 3-2 win against Queens Park Rangers that won Manchester City their first Premier League title.

Third on the list is another Manchester legend in Wayne Rooney. The all-time record goalscorer for Manchester United, Rooney scored 183 goals during his trophy-laden spell with the Red Devils.

Among the top moments in Wayne Rooney’s Premier League legacy, the one that certainly stands out is his 78th-minute overhead kick against Manchester City in a derby.

Thierry Henry (175) and Alan Shearer (148) complete the top five list of players with the most Premier League goals for a single club.

Henry, one of the greatest overseas players ever to play in the English Premier League, scripted history of his own with his contribution as part of ‘The Invincibles?and as Arsenal’s record scorer in the English top-flight league.

Lastly, Alan Shearer is the fifth player on the list. The legendary England striker was a force to be reckoned with during his time at Newcastle United, after which he also played for Southampton and Blackburn Rovers.

With five goals in as many games and seven assists to go with them, Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane has already notched up 12 goal contributions this season. While his current form is simply a purple patch and is rather unsustainable, at his current pace, Kane would mathematically finish the season with an astonishing 91 goal contributions, a record in every league on this planet.

While he may not reach 91, he’s certainly given himself an opportunity to finish the season as the single-season record holder for most goal contributions in the Premier League. But who leads the way currently?

Here’s the list:

(NOTE: Andy Cole and Alan Shearer share the record with 47, however, he did it back in 1993/94 and 1994/95 respectively, where each team played 42 matches as opposed to the standard 38 now)

Thierry Henry ?44

The Arsenal legend was unstoppable in the early 2000s, winning four golden boots in five seasons. The only season in that stretch where he failed to win the golden boot, he set the all-time record for most assists in a Premier League season with 20. In addition to those, he scored 24 goals, one fewer than Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy who won the golden boot, finishing the season with 44 goal contributions, a Premier League record.

Luis Suarez ?43

A biting controversy ruled Luis Suarez out of the first five games, but upon his return from suspension, the Uruguayan was simply unstoppable, scoring 31 goals in 33 games, equalling the-then Premier League record for most goals in a season. In addition, he also provided 12 assists to teammates, finishing the season with 43 goal contributions. It was all in vain as Liverpool fell agonizingly short in their bid for the Premier League title, however, Suarez did scoop all the individual accolades and earned a move to Barcelona, where he won the treble in his debut season.

Mohamed Salah ?42

What Suarez did in his final season at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah did in his first with the Reds, scoring 32 goals, breaking the record for most goals in a Premier League, scoring 32 goals. He further provided 10 assists, finishing the season with 42 goal contributions, the third-most in Premier League history. Salah won the PFA Player of the Year and has since helped Liverpool win the Champions League and Premier League.

Reigning world champions France has produced numerous sensational strikers over the course of its illustrious history. Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappé, who has already been tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner, is just the latest in a long list of talented players that the two-time world champions have produced.

While Mbappé looks destined to finish his career as one of the greatest to have ever played for Les Bleus, we have a look at the top five goal-scorers in the history of the French national team.

Thierry Henry ?51 goals

A clinical finisher and one of the most elegant dribblers of all time, Thierry Henry was a part of the first French team to win a World Cup in 1998. He was also a part of the side that won the UEFA European Championship two years later and is the all-time leading goal-scorer in the history of Les Blues.

Henry’s football career, in fact, was filled with trophies and success for country as well as club. The talisman of Arsenal’s invincible team that went an entire Premier League campaign unbeaten, Henry won two English top-flight titles and two FA Cups with the Gunners. During his spell with Barcelona, the Frenchman won two La Ligas, the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.

Michel Platini ?41 goals

Perhaps the most gifted playmaker of his generation, Michel Platini was fondly referred to as the King during his playing days. Unlike Henry, Platini never won the World Cup with France but he was instrumental to their UEFA European Championship triumph in 1984 for which he was adjudged the Player of the Tournament after scoring nine goals, including successive hat-tricks in the group stage.

A born leader, Platini’s ability to score as well as create goals was unlike anyone else at the time and his influence on the pitch also helped Juventus win the Serie A in 1984 and 1986. Regarded as one of the finest passers of a football, Platini was technically gifted and lethal from dead-ball situations. A creative midfielder, his range of passing and vision on the ball were unmatched for a brief spell during which he won three Ballon d'Ors from 1983 to 1985.

Olivier Giroud ?39 goals

Olivier Giroud may not be the first name to pop up during conversations on France’s greatest-ever strikers, but the importance that the French targetman plays in the team is not lost on his teammates and coaches. A selfless striker who is deadly in the air and when inside the penalty box, it may come as a surprise to some that Giroud is third on the list for leading goal-scoring Frenchmen, with 39 strikes to his name.

A member of the team that won the 2018 World Cup, Giroud’s work ethic and knack to improvise with smart finishes inside the box means that he can contribute to teams even if he’s not always on the scoresheet. A Ligue 1 winner with Montpellier and a four-time FA Cup champion, Giroud is likely to add to his goal tally for France and move higher up on this list before retiring.

David Trezeguet ?34 goals

Like Henry, David Trezeguet was a member of the teams that won France the World Cup in 1998 and the UEFA European Championship in 2000. A complete striker with pace, power and a poacher’s instinct, Trezeguet was an opportunistic frontman who was always on hand to make the most of loose touches or lapses by defenders in the penalty area.

He didn’t require many touches of the ball to get his shot away either and was also a big threat in the air. Scorer of the golden goal that helped France beat Italy to win the UEFA European Championship in 2000, he also won two top-flight titles each in France and Italy with AS Monaco and Juventus respectively.

Zinedine Zidane ?31 goals

Deemed as the greatest playmaker of his generation, watching Zinedine Zidane with the ball at his feet was closest one could come to poetry in motion on a football pitch. The driving force behind Les Bleus?World Cup triumph in 1998 and their UEFA European Championship success two years later, Zidane’s close control and vision are still topics of discussions in footballing circles.

A Ballon d’Or recipient, Zidane won league titles in Spain as well as Italy and was a part of Real Madrid’s Galactico era. With Los Blancos, Zizou, as he’s fondly known, won the UEFA Champions League. However, winning the World Cup and ending France’s long wait for the trophy is arguably one of the finest achievements of his career, if not his best.

With 13 league titles and 14 FA Cups to their name, Arsenal are one of the most successful clubs in the history of European football.

The Gunners, quite famously, have never been relegated from the first division and despite not tasting much success in continental competitions, the Londoners have been a force to be reckoned with in domestic competitions, courtesy of some incredible players that they have employed over the years.

Under their legendary French manager, Arsenal redefined football in England, playing with a class and suave that was previously unseen in the birthplace of the sport.

The club’s attacking ethos and their eye for talent has seen a lot of high-scoring talents play for the Gunners, and below, we take a look at the five greatest goal scorers so far:

Thierry Henry ?228 goals

Arsenal’s greatest player Thierry Henry struck 228 times for the Gunners in two stints. The Frenchman joined the Londoners in 1999 after a brief stint with Juventus and instantly became a fan favourite at Highbury. Henry won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and led Arsenal to a Champions League final in 2006. He swapped the Emirates for the Nou Camp and joined Barcelona in 2007 before returning to Arsenal for six months in 2012.

He won the Premier League golden boot a record four times.

Ian Wright ?149 goals

Wright joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace in 1991 at age 27 and spent eight years with the Gunners, scoring 149 goals for the side. The Englishman won the golden boot in his debut season at Arsenal and was extremely consistent in his seven years at the club. Wright won the Premier League once and the FA Cup twice with the Londoners.

Robin van Persie ?132 goals

He may have soured his relationship with the Arsenal fans by moving to Manchester United in 2012 and then celebrating a goal against his former side, but it’s hard to make a case against the fact that Robin van Persie is an Arsenal legend. The Dutchman signed for Arsenal in 2004 and deputised for Henry in his initial years. After the Frenchman’s departure to Barcelona, van Persie became the club’s main centre-forward and thrived in that role.

He skippered the Gunners for a season and won the golden boot as well as the PFA Player of the Year, essentially carrying the club to a place in the Champions League. Despite a lot of individual glories, van Persie could win only one title with Arsenal -- the 2004-05 FA Cup.

Dennis Bergkamp ?109 goals

If Henry was the brawn, Dennis Bergkamp was the brain of Arsenal’s attack. After an incredible career with Ajax, the Dutchman joined Inter Milan and spent two tumultuous years with the Nerazzurri before moving to Arsenal in 1995. Under Wenger, Bergkamp thrived and struck 109 goals for the side, winning three FA Cups and three Premier League titles in his 11 years in London.

Bergkamp, like Henry, was immortalised with a statue outside the Emirates and is one of the greatest players to ever don an Arsenal shirt.

Theo Walcott ?108 goals

Signed at just 17 years of age, Theo Walcott was touted to be the next big thing at Arsenal. Raw pace and an eye for the goal made him one the brightest talents in football and he showed glimpses of his incredible ability during his time with the club.

However, injuries curtailed what could have been a great career and Walcott could never truly reach his full potential. However, the Englishman still struck 108 goals in his 12 years with the Gunners and is fondly remembered by all Arsenal fans.

The men behind the machines are probably the ones accountable for the criticism thrown, and being a football manager is no different in any state. You get the applause if the results are good, but youll be thrown out of your throne if the ship starts to sink.

Being a manager can be as arduous as it can get. Former Manchester United winger, Ryan Giggs once opened up about his short-term managerial stint with the club he spent his entire career with, saying that he needed a psychologist after leaving the club as a manager in 2014.

“I saw a psychologist when I left United because I had been straight from school into being an apprentice,?Giggs said.

“I had never needed a psychologist while I was playing. But it was little things. It helped because I was going into the unknown.?/p>

‘Heading into the unknown,?he said. That pretty much sums up why some of the greatest players of the sport have failed miserably to translate their success as a manager. Here, we give you five names who dominated football for generations but failed as a manager.

Diego Maradona

Starting with the very obvious, Argentina’s Diego Maradona needs no introduction whatsoever. Considered as the greatest of all time, Maradona started off his managerial career in 1994 with Corrientes and Racing Club, but with very little success.

More than 10 years after that, he reunited with his beloved Argentina team, whom he made the world champions in 1986 as a player. A romantic reunion, however, was marred by the struggles during the qualification of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Bolivia in qualifying, Argentina were on the verge of not making it to the finals.

They somehow did though.

And that, perhaps, remains his only plausible achievement as a manager. His last game in charge of the national team was a 4-0 defeat against Germany at the quarter-final stage.

Maradona has been a sheer journeyman as a manager. A year after his World Cup failure, he moved to the United Arab Emirates Football League before travelling back to South America to join Dorados and finally Gimnasia de La Plata in Argentina.

Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry’s credentials as a player are well and truly scripted and will certainly be never forgotten. With the ease the Frenchman dwelled into the English Premier League in only his first season is commendable, but what’s more admirable is the level of consistency he kept.

After hanging his boots in 2014, Henry began working with Arsenal’s youth academy before getting his big break in 2018 with the club he began his career with, AS Monaco. Henry promised to bring the professionalism taught to him by Arsene Wenger at Monaco, but the end result was what was lacking.

His first game in charge ended in a 2-1 defeat against Strasbourg and he, in fact, went without a win for over a month. He brought in a much-needed reinforcement in the January transfer window on 2019, but Henry was dismissed even before the market was shut. He won just four out of the 20 games and lost a whopping 15.

In November 2019, he moved to Canada, joining Montreal Impact, but he has won just one of the five games so far.

Gary Neville

Former Manchester United full-back became a reputed football pundit after hanging his boots, and thus, his appointment as a new head coach of Valencia in 2015 was seen as a massive coup. The appointment was greeted with mixed emotions given that the club was in a state of despair and for Neville, he had no managerial experience whatsoever.

His first game in a charge was a 2-0 defeat to Lyon in the Champions League, and as Valencia crashed out of the tournament, finishing third in the group, they were demoted to the UEFA Europa League. In February 2016, Neville suffered a shocking 7-0 defeat against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey before his team went on an eight-game winless run in the league since his appointment.

It took him two months to register his first win with the club, and that remains his only highlight as he was suspended in March 2016 for his poor track record.

Gianfranco Zola

After an illustrious career as a player, Italian forward Gianfranco Zola moved into management in 2008 after a stint with Italy’s U21 side. Joining the Premier League side West Ham, he made a decent start to his new life, but began shaking during the 2009?0 season. A disagreement with the board coupled with the other issues at hand saw the Hammers finishing 17th in the tally. Following the conclusion of the 2009-10 season, Zola was relieved of his duties.

In 2012, the Italian moved to Watford, and led them to a third-place finish, and thus a place in the play-offs. A 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Wembley left Watford grounded, and thus began the era of despair. Having not won a game since October 2013, Zola resigned from his position in December that year, leaving Watford 13th in the league.

Since then, he has had stints with the Serie A side Cagliari, Al-Arabi SC is Qatar and Birmingham City in England, but none of them have ended as he would have hoped for.

Tony Adams

Nicknamed "Mr Arsenal" for his life-long service for the Gunners, it was all but given that centre-back, Tony Adams would go on to become one of the finest coaches of all time.

After retiring from the game, Adam took a job at Wycombe Wanderers in 2003 but failed to prevent the club from being relegated, winning just 12 out of 53 games in charge. After a few stints here and there as an assistant coach, Portsmouth roped in the Arsenal man in October 2008 before dismissing him in February 2009. During his short tenure, he won a mere four of 22 games.

Eight years later, he landed himself a job at Granada in April 2017. With only a handful of games left and the team facing a possibility of relegation, Adams suffered seven straight defeats, registering a win percentage of 0.00.

A figure of 226 goals in 369 appearances is more than enough to enter the league of greats. Thierry Henry, considered by many as one of the finest strikers to have ever graced the fields of English football, took the Premier League by storm in only his debut season with Arsenal.

What followed next branded the Frenchman as one of the cult heroes the Gunners have seen in their long history. Two Premier League medals and two FA Cup glories may not justify the heroics of Henry in his eight seasons with the club, but the fact remains that he holds the record for the most Premier League Golden Boots (four), and also holds the assists record for a single season (20).

A trophy-laden career which lasted for nearly two decades portrays a perfect picture of his sheer genius, and as the saying goes, there is more than what meets the eye.

A twitter user recently put his head into compiling the facts and the figures to reach a conclusion that the Frenchman was overrated in his prime. He started off with Henry’s performances in Arsenal colours in the UEFA Champions League.

In 2007, the Frenchman moved to Barcelona, and the thread described this move as a desperate attempt to win the Champions League.

Then came the comparison with Chelsea great Didier Drogba and Manchester United’s all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney.
