WI vs BAN Dream11 team tips for Bangladesh tour of West Indies 2022

Top Tip: Best batter

Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal will be the batter to watch out for. The 33-year-old opener is Bangladesh’s all-time highest run scorer in ODI cricket, amassing 7,826 runs in 225 matches at an average of 36.74 including 14 centuries and 52 fifties. At 9.5 credits, Tamim Iqbal is the must-have fantasy pick for this match.

Top Tip: Best bowler

Among the bowlers, West IndiesAlzarri Joseph could be the standout pick in the first ODI. The right-arm pacer has had an impressive ODI career so far, having picked 77 wickets in 47 ODI matches at an economy of 5.29. Joseph troubled the Bangladesh batters in the two-match Test series, claiming 12 wickets at an average of 16.26. Joseph is a worthy fantasy pick at 9 credits.

Top Tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper

As far as all-rounders are concerned, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan will be the preferred choice. The 24-year-old all-rounder has scored 570 runs and bagged 64 wickets in 58 ODI matches that he has featured so far. Mehidy Hasan has accrued 70.6 fantasy points per match and will be a great pick at 9 credits.

For the wicket-keeper spot, in-form Nicholas Pooran will be the overwhelming choice over Bangladesh’s Nurul Hasan. Apart from fulfilling his wicket-keeping responsibilities, Pooran finished as the highest run-getter in the T20I series, scoring 108 runs in three matches at an impressive strike rate of 156.52. The West Indies captain will be a valuable addition to any fantasy team at 9.5 credits.

The Bangladesh cricket team will take on hosts West Indies in a multi-format bilateral series starting Thursday, June 16.

The Bangladesh tour of West Indies 2022 will start with the two-match Test series, followed by the white-ball series featuring three T20Is and three ODIs.

After Mominul Haque resigned as Bangladesh captain following a poor run of form, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as their Test captain for the third time. Shakib was first appointed Bangladesh captain in 2009 but was sacked in 2011. He was appointed for a second time in 2017 before he was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for failing to report corrupt approaches.

Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and bowling all-rounder Mehidy Hasan have been added to the Test squad for the two-match series.

However, the hosts will miss the services of former captain Mushfiqur Rahim in order to make a Hajj pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, Anamul Haque, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mossadek Hossain have made a comeback to the limited-overs squads.

On the other hand, led by captain Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies cricket team has included three uncapped players in their Test squad.

Wicket-keeper batter Devon Thomas, left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie and Anderson Phillip have been included in the Test squads. While Thomas and Motie have played limited-overs cricket for West Indies, Philip is yet to feature in any format for the Caribbean outfit.

West Indies will be without all-rounder Jason Holder, who has been granted a break.

Bangladesh tour of West Indies matches will be played across four stadiums - Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Daren Sammy Stadium, Windsor Park, and Providence Stadium.

Rain gods played spoilsport as the first Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium ended in a high-scoring. After Bangladesh had posted 541/7d in the first innings, Sri Lanka rode on the back of Dimuth Karunaratne’s double century to better the tally by accumulating 648/8d.

Bangladesh came on to bat in the second innings and a certain Tamim Iqbal went on to eclipse a unique record with the bat. By the time he completed his half-century, Bangladesh were 52/2 which is now the lowest total for a team when a player has scored a half-century.

The previous record was held by Australia’s JJ Lyons in 1890. The right-handed batsman had completed his half-century when his team had posted 55 runs against England. West IndiesChris Gayle holds a similar record. The hard-hitting opener completed his half-century when West Indies had put 55 runs against New Zealand in 2014.

Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten on 74 with 10 fours and three sixes as the match was drawn during the second session on Day 5. Mominul Haque remained on the crease alongside Iqbal after having scored 23 off 86 deliveries. Dimuth Karunaratne was rightly adjudged as the Man of the Match. The Sri Lanka captain scored 244 runs in 437 balls at a strike rate of 55.84.

Meanwhile, even if not for the rain, the match was anyway heading for a draw. The teams were already into the final day and Bangladesh were trailing with 107 runs. The match ended after Bangladesh had put 100/2 on the board.
