The Bangladesh cricket team will take on hosts West Indies in a multi-format bilateral series starting Thursday, June 16.

The Bangladesh tour of West Indies 2022 will start with the two-match Test series, followed by the white-ball series featuring three T20Is and three ODIs.

After Mominul Haque resigned as Bangladesh captain following a poor run of form, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as their Test captain for the third time. Shakib was first appointed Bangladesh captain in 2009 but was sacked in 2011. He was appointed for a second time in 2017 before he was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for failing to report corrupt approaches.

Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and bowling all-rounder Mehidy Hasan have been added to the Test squad for the two-match series.

However, the hosts will miss the services of former captain Mushfiqur Rahim in order to make a Hajj pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, Anamul Haque, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mossadek Hossain have made a comeback to the limited-overs squads.

On the other hand, led by captain Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies cricket team has included three uncapped players in their Test squad.

Wicket-keeper batter Devon Thomas, left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie and Anderson Phillip have been included in the Test squads. While Thomas and Motie have played limited-overs cricket for West Indies, Philip is yet to feature in any format for the Caribbean outfit.

West Indies will be without all-rounder Jason Holder, who has been granted a break.

Bangladesh tour of West Indies matches will be played across four stadiums - Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Daren Sammy Stadium, Windsor Park, and Providence Stadium.

Behind Morgan, the second on the list for most runs in the Under-19 World Cup is Babar Azam. The Pakistan batter accumulated 585 runs in 12 matches at an average of 58.50 between 2010 and 2012. Azam has hit two tons and three half-centuries in the tournament’s history.

New Zealand top-order batsman Will Young became the latest player to score the most runs off one ball in Test cricket, with seven runs coming off an Ebadot Hossain delivery in the second Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday, January 9.

The incident occurred in the very first over of the first session on Day 1. Young got a healthy edge off Hossain's final delivery that was going straight at first slip, however, the fielder at second slip (Liton Das) dropped a simple catch and let the ball run off towards the third man. In the meantime, the batters - Will Young and Tom Latham - ran three runs but an overthrow from wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan towards the non-strikers' end went for a boundary.

What started out as a missed wicket opportunity ended up being a chaotic start for Bangladesh. However, this is not the first time such an instance has happened in Test cricket.

Andrew Symonds (Australia vs New Zealand, Gabba, 2008) shares the record for most runs off one ball in Test cricket (eight runs) with Patsy Hendren (Australia vs England, Melbourne, 1929) and John Wright (Australia vs New Zealand, Melbourne, 1980).

Apart from New Zealand's Will Young, there have been a few known instances of a batter scoring seven runs off one ball in Test cricket. The first such case can be traced back to 1976 in Headingley, where English wicketkeeper-batsman Alan Knott got seven runs from a delivery by West Indies' Vanburn Holder. Knott initially hit the Holder delivery towards extra-cover for a quick single, but Bernard Julien's overthrow past wicket-keeper Deryck Murray and Andy Roberts' throw that went to the long-off boundary for four more runs added to the three runs Knott and partner Tony Greig ran between the wickets.

Since then, Pakistan's Majid Khan (Australia vs Pakistan, Melbourne, 1981), Michael Clarke (Ashes, Adelaide, 2006), Chris Rogers (Ashes, Sydney, 2014) and Kraigg Brathwaite (South Africa vs West Indies, Newlands, 2015) are the Test batters to score seven runs off one ball in Test cricket.

Kraigg Brathwaite is eager to put the advice from West Indies batting great Desmond Haynes to good use during next month's Test series in England.

Brathwaite was one of the heroes of West Indies' shock win at Headingley in 2017 with scores of 134 and 95.

Yet the 27-year-old has not made a Test fifty for nearly two years.

But prior to coming to England for July's three-match 'bio-secure' series, Brathwaite consulted Barbados and West Indies opening predecessor Haynes, who scored over 7,000 runs in his Test career.

"I had some words with Sir Desmond back in Barbados," said Brathwaite in a conference call Wednesday from his the West Indies' training base at Old Trafford, the venue for the second and third Test after a series opener at the Ageas Bowl.

"We've always had a relationship, he was team manager of the Barbados team when I first started, so I had some chats with him. He was an opener as well so it was beneficial for me.

"It was a lot about keeping it simple, not over-complicating things too much. Spending time is crucial in Test cricket and it's important for any batsman."

- 'Show discipline' -

The Headingley match showcased Brathwaite's patience at the crease and it's a quality the tourists are likely to need again after fellow batsmen Darren Bravo and Shimron Hetmyer declined to tour England this time around amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"We've got to buckle down and show discipline," said Brathwaite.

"Discipline can carry you a long way in Test cricket as a whole and particularly playing in England when the ball is moving.

"If you can be disciplined for the whole day, not just half an hour or an hour, I think that will lay a platform for big runs."

West Indies beat England 2-1 in the Caribbean in 2019 and coach Phil Simmons said last week it was vital the likes of Brathwaite raised their game if they were to retain the Wisden Trophy.

"There's a lot of pressure on the batsmen to perform because the bowling unit have been carrying the Test team for a while now," said Simmons.

"It's something that we have been on a lot, not to put extra pressure on but we need to get that total of 400-450 in order to give (support to) this bowling unit - which I think is a top-class bowling unit, the fast bowlers especially."

West Indies player Kraigg Brathwaite has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action during the second Test against India, the International Cricket Council announced on Sunday.

The match officials' report, which was handed over to the West Indies management, cited concerns about the legality of the 26-year-old's bowling action during the match, which ended last Monday.

Brathwaite, who bowls off-spin, was reported for a suspect action in August 2017 but was cleared following an independent assessment.

He will be required to submit to further testing by September 14 but is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results are known.

India won second Test in Jamaica by 257 runs to win the two-Test series 2-0.
