G2 Esports is the first team to lock in a spot for the 2025 VALORANT Champions Paris. The squad clinched it with a 2-0 sweep over Xi Lai Gaming (XLG) at VCT Masters Toronto, a key win that also knocked XLG out of the event.

The win adds to G2’s strong season run. They now hold 18 points earned from wins at the Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, plus a second-place finish at Masters Bangkok. These points have not only sent them to Champs Paris but also helped them stay in the top league next year unless 2GAME Esports (2G) makes a deep run. For 2G to overtake G2, they’d need to land in the top two at Americas Stage 2, which looks like a stretch.

G2’s IGL, Jacob ‘valyn�?Batio stated, ‘My brothers on 2G, I’m sorry, but I’m hoping you guys lose so we can stay in Ascension or VCT next year.�?/p>

This G2 team used to play under The Guard and won Ascension Americas 2023. After losing to Paper Rex in the upper bracket, G2 had to play Gen.G Esports in the lower bracket quarterfinal. G2 won the series, advancing to the lower bracket semifinal where they will play against Fnatic on June 20, 2025.

G2 Esports took down Sentinels 3-1 to win VCT Americas Stage 1. With this win, they got 10 VCT points and a pass to the next big VCT series �?Masters Toronto in June.

Twelve teams from the Americas joined the event from March 21 to May 4. G2 stood out early on, winning all five games in the Omega Group. Their strong start sent them to the Playoffs Upper Bracket Semis, but they lost to Sentinels and had to fight through the lower bracket. G2 bounced back strong, beating Evil Geniuses 2-1 and MIBR 3-1.

In the Grand Final, G2 made clear improvements. They won the first two maps (Haven and Split), lost Pearl, and sealed the deal on Ascent. All games were close, but G2 kept calm and showed real growth.

Trent ‘trent�?Cairns was named MVP and shared his joy online, calling the team’s run back-to-back champions and praising their hard work.

G2, Sentinels, and MIBR will participate in Masters Toronto from June 7 to 22. The event will feature 12 teams across different regions and a $1 million prize pool.

With 16 total VCT points, G2 leads the Americas region. The top teams after Stage 2 may go straight to the big VALORANT Champions tournament later this year.

G2 Esports suffered two losses this year in their CS2 squad: top-notch rifler Nikola ‘NiKo�?Kovač and the eagle-eyed Ilya ‘m0NESY�?Osipov. Both players are considered elites due to their impressive performances. With both of them under Team Falcon’s wings, what will happen to G2 Esports now? 

More losses and low morale

Losing two of their core players could lead to a string of losses for G2. Despite the skill of their remaining players like Nemanja 'huNter-' Kovač and Janusz 'Snax' Pogorzelski, they would still struggle. The team can also lose morale knowing that huNter- is NiKo’s cousin. 

However, this might not last long as G2 Esports will hire additional players. So far, the team has not released any statement about players they look forward to working with, but this can change. 

Fighting Team Falcons will likely result in a loss

If the two elite teams ever meet on the battlefield, the more likely winner is Team Falcons. Although G2 Esports won’t be beaten easily, the edge is on Team Falcons. NiKo has already formed a good relationship with his current team, and adding m0NESY will further improve their performance. 

Although it lacks two members, G2 Esports can still put up a good fight. Their new player is possibly the same level as m0NESY, but nobody can tell who will replace the ‘baby GOAT.�?nbsp;

Better preparations

To be ready for the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major, G2 Esports needs to train harder and prepare more. Their new player must adapt quickly to the current team and vice versa. With their latest standing in the Blast Open Spring 2025, they might take on an opponent with the same skill level as them. 

Since they lost m0NESY, they should look for a sniper of the same calibre—or better. Their riflers are competitive and display good game sense, but a good sniper will always be crucial to the team. 

New trump cards for the CS2 squad

Despite no announcement on the replacement player, G2 Esports is a top-tier team that wouldn’t settle for anyone. Their new player can be their trump card for the upcoming esports tournament, but only they know who it will be. 

However, talks of Aleksander ‘hades�?Miśkiewicz replacing the sniper are brewing. The primary AWPer hades is a top sniper from the esports group Monte. His display of accurate flicks and weapon mastery earned the respect of both his previous and current teams.

G2 Esports finally accepted Ilya ‘m0NESY�?Osipov’s transfer after months of rejection. The Russian CS2 AWPer has signed a contract with Team Falcons. Reported as a multi-million dollar deal, it is currently the ‘biggest transfer�?in the history of the Counter-Strike esports scene. 

m0NESY will reportedly replace the current Team Falcons�?sniper, Abdulkhalik ‘degster�?Gasanov, for the upcoming 2025 BLAST.tv Auston Major this June. According to the updated roster, m0NESY will reunite with his former teammate, Nikola ‘NiKo�?Kovač. 

As Team Falcon prepares for the tournament, the competing players are revealed. Here’s the final roster:

T1, a South Korean esports team, claimed victory at the first major Valorant tournament of 2025, Valorant Masters Bangkok, after a thrilling final against North America's G2. The match went on all five maps, with the last one going overtime.

G2 took the first map, Lotus, with a 13-5 win. However, T1 fought back in the second map, Haven, winning four rounds in a row to tie the series. On Abyss, G2 led with five consecutive rounds, but T1 bounced back on Split to force an overtime.

The final map, Pearl, saw T1 lead 8-4 at halftime, but G2 mounted a comeback to tie it at 10-12. T1 responded with a strong push, forcing three overtime rounds. In the end, a clutch play by Kim ‘stax�?Gu-taek sealed the win for T1 at 15-13.

Kim ‘Meteor�?Tae-oh was named MVP of the tournament, showing strong leadership and solid stats.
