India Women will lock horns against Thailand Women in the semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022. The match is scheduled to commence at 8:30 AM IST on October 13 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh.

India finished the league phase as table toppers with five wins and one loss. Their solitary defeat came against arch-rivals Pakistan, who will face Sri Lanka in the other semi-final.

On the other hand, Thailand’s dream run continues as they qualified for the semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup for the first time ever. However, their qualification was aided by the abandonment of UAE’s match against Bangladesh, who were more likely to seal a semis spot with a win in that contest.

IN-W vs TL-W Dream11 prediction

The recent form of the two teams suggests that India Women will most likely emerge victorious in this encounter. Moreover, Thailand Women were bowled out for 37 runs when the two sides met earlier in the competition, with the six-time champions India winning it comfortably by nine wickets.

IN-W vs TL-W Dream11 team tips for Women’s Asia Cup 2022

Top Tip: Best batter

India’s Jemimah Rodrigues has been in fantastic form in this competition, leading the scoring charts with 188 runs in four innings with the help of two half-centuries at an average of 94 and a strike rate of 144.61. Even though the 8.5-credit player did not get a chance to bat in the previous match, she can be backed to continue her fine form here.

Top tip: Best bowler

India spinner Sneh Rana will be a top pick from the bowling department. The right-arm off-break bowler has picked up four wickets so far, at a respectable economy of 4.35, with all the wickets coming in the last two games. Furthermore, she picked up three wickets in the last clash against Thailand at a brilliant economy of 2.2. With ownership of over 80% in the fantasy teams, she can be expected to shine once agan.

Top tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper

Deepti Sharma is our recommendation from the all-rounders?section. The bowling all-rounder has been the stand-out performer for her side and has accumulated 80, 92, 114, 93, 43 and 73 points throughout the league stage, hinting at another top haul in this match. Available for 9 credits, she has been in fantastic form, taking 10 wickets in six matches and scoring 91 runs at a strike rate of 137.87.

Thailand Women’s Nannapat Koncharoenkai will be the preferred choice over India’s Richa Ghosh from the wicket-keepers?roster. The 9-credit opener has been in decent touch with the bat, scoring 105 runs in six matches. Moreover, she has been involved in five run-outs and stumpings combined, along with one catch so far, indicating her key presence behind the stumps.

The Indian women’s cricket team will take on hosts Bangladesh in their fifth match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, October 8. The T20I match will start at 1:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).

IN-W vs BD-W Dream11 prediction for Women’s Asia Cup T20 2022

India Women will look to bounce back after suffering a 13-run defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan in their last game on Friday.

Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, India started their Women’s Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a 41-run win over Sri Lanka before beating Malaysia by 30 runs (D/L method) in their second fixture. The Women in Blue later thrashed United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 104 runs.

With six points from four games, India are currently at the top of the standings due to a superior net run-rate than Pakistan, who also have accumulated the same points.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Women head into the India fixture after hammering Malaysia by 88 runs.

The Nigar Sultana-led side had earlier beaten Thailand by nine wickets but lost to Pakistan by the same scoreline in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup. Bangladesh Women are currently placed third in the standings with four points from three games.

India Women have a dominant head-to-head record against Bangladesh Women in T20I cricket, winning 10 of the 12 matches that they have played so far. Bangladesh have managed just two victories.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s side secured a 18-run win against Bangladesh in their previous T20I meeting at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup fixture in Perth in 2020.

Going by past head-to-head record, IN-W will start as favourites against BD-W on Saturday.

IN-W vs ML-W Dream11 team tips for Women’s Asia Cup T20 2022

Top tip: Best batter

India Women’s Jemimah Rodrigues has been the leading run-scorer in the ongoing T20 tournament so far. The 22-year-old has amassed 153 runs in four matches at an impressive average of 76.50 and a strike rate of 144.33. She has hit two fifties and will look to continue her form against Bangladesh. Jemimah Rodrigues has already accumulated 231 fantasy points and will be a smart pick at 8.5 credits.

Top tip: Best bowler

In the bowling department, Bangladesh Women’s Shanjida Akter Meghla will be a great choice at just 8.5 credits. The young left-arm spinner has already picked four wickets in three matches at an average of 6.67 and an economy of 3.24. Shanjida Akter’s fantasy tally of 180 points makes her one of the finest bowling picks for this match.

Top tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper

As far as all-rounders are concerned, picking India Women’s Deepti Sharma is a no-brainer. Deepti Sharma has claimed six wickets in four matches and is currently the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Apart from her bowling credentials, the 25-year-old all-rounder has scored 81 runs at an average of 40.50 and a strike rate of 132.78. She has already amassed 323 fantasy points and will be a quality investment at 9 credits.

Meanwhile, India Women’s Richa Ghosh pips Shamima Sultana of Bangladesh for the wicket-keeper spot. Apart from being a safe bet behind the stumps, Richa Ghosh has scored 68 runs at a staggering strike rate of 174.35 coming lower down the batting order. The India Women wicket-keeper has already accrued 158 fantasy points and will be a good pick at just 7 credits.

IN-W vs BD-W playing XI (probable)

India Women playing XI: Sabbhineni Meghana, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, Dayalan Hemalatha, Richa Ghosh (wicket-keeper), Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Renuka Singh, Rajeshwari Gayakwad

Bangladesh Women playing XI: Shamima Sultana (wicket-keeper), Murshida Khatun, Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana (captain), Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Rumana Ahmed, Salma Khatun, Nahida Akter, Shanjida Akter Meghla, Fariha Trisna

Australian cricketer Belinda Clark holds the record for the most runs in a calendar year in women’s ODIs.

The former Australia women’s cricket team captain etched her name in the history books after scoring 970 runs in just 16 ODI matches in the 1997 calendar year. She scored three hundreds and four half-centuries that year and boasted a staggering average of 80.83.

Almost a quarter of that (970) runs came against Denmark during the 1997 Women’s World Cup in Mumbai. Clark smashed an unbeaten 229 off just 155 balls against Denmark in the group stage to record what was the highest individual score in Women’s ODI cricket at that time. The record was later broken by New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr after she scored 232 not out against Ireland in Dublin back in 2018.

Clark was a prolific run-scorer in Women’s ODI cricket as she also accumulated 842 runs in a calendar year in 2000 - the fifth-best tally on the all-time list. In that year, Clark scored 842 runs in 16 ODIs at an impressive average of 76.54. She had one century and six fifties to her name.

South Africa star cricketer Laura Wolvaardt is second on the all-time list for most runs in a calendar year in women’s ODIs. The swashbuckling opening batter has currently scored 882 runs in a calendar year in 2022. Wolvaardt has been in the best form of her life, amassing 882 runs in 18 matches at an average of 49. She has hit one hundred and eight fifties in 2022 so far. Wolvaardt needs another 89 runs to surpass the record of Belinda Clark.

Legendary New Zealand cricketer Debbie Hockley is third on the list. The former Kiwi batter scored 880 runs in 1997. Hockley accumulated the tally in 16 ODIs at an average of 62.85. She registered two tons and six fifties.

Former New Zealand cricketer Amy Satterthwaite features fourth on the list. The former vice-captain of New Zealand women’s cricket team scored 853 runs in a calendar year in 2016. Satterthwaite amassed those runs in just 15 matches at an average of 85.30. She smashed three hundreds and four half-centuries in Women’s ODI cricket in 2016.

Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma are the two Indian cricketers who have amassed more than 700 runs in a calendar year. Both, curiously, achieved the feat in 2017. While Deepti amassed 787 runs in 20 ODIs at an average of 49.18, former India captain Mithali Raj scored 783 runs in 19 matches at an average of 71.18.

Retired England cricketer Claire Taylor (807 runs) in 2005, star Australia duo of Meg Lanning (761 runs) and Ellse Perry (732 runs), both in 2016, complete the top 10.

The Indian women’s cricket team secured a memorable draw in the one-off Test against England at the Bristol County Ground on Saturday, June 19.

The Mithali Raj-led side had handed debuts to five cricketers who all played an important role in saving the Test from the jaws of defeat. Here are the contributions of the five debutants during the epic England-India women Test:

Pooja Vastrakar

The 21-year-old pacer had a decent outing on her Test debut as she gave India their first breakthrough of the match, picking the wicket of England opener Lauren Winfield Hill. The girl from Madhya Pradesh even contributed with the bat lower down the order. Pooja scored 12 runs in India’s first innings to help the team reduce England’s lead and further added another 12 runs on the board in the second innings to help India save the one-off Test.

Taniya Bhatia

Taniya Bhatia showed why she is regarded as the best wicket-keeper in India. The 23-year-old wicket-keeper batter had a brilliant game behind the stumps but what surprised everyone was her batting prowess. After being dismissed for a duck in the first innings, Taniya was sent to bat at number 10 in the second innings. Showing her incredible temperament, Taniya stitched a match-saving 104-run partnership with Sneh Rana which earned praise from several Indian cricketers and fans. She remained unbeaten on 44 having faced 88 deliveries in India’s second innings.

Deepti Sharma

Deepti Sharma produced an outstanding all-around performance in the one-off Test against England. The 23-year-old bowled exceptionally in England’s first innings to claim three wickets having bowled 27 overs. She followed it up by scoring an unbeaten 29 in India’s first innings. Deepti was later promoted to number three in the second innings and she responded by scoring her maiden Test fifty.

Sneh Rana

Sneh Rana was undoubtedly one of the standout performers for India in the recently-concluded Test. The Dehradun-born cricketer became the first Indian woman and fourth overall to manage a 50+ score and a 4+ wicket haul on Test debut. Her classical off-spin bowling helped her bag four wickets in the first innings. Later in the Test, Rana remained unbeaten on 80 off 154 balls in India’s second innings to help her side script an epic draw against the hosts.

Shafali Verma

The 17-year-old took the internet by storm after she became the first Indian woman and fourth overall to record fifties in both innings on Test debut (96 and 63).

Interestingly, Shafali is now just the second Indian cricketer after legend Sachin Tendulkar to register two 50+ scores in the same match at the age of 17. The swashbuckling opening batter was adjudged Player of the Match in the one-off Test against England. Shafali also broke a 26-year-old record by registering the highest score by an Indian women’s cricket team batter on Test debut. The previous record belonged to Chanderkanta Kaul who had scored 75 against New Zealand in Nelson in 1995.

Rohit Sharma, vice-captain of limited-overs cricket for Team India and one of the world's most accomplished players, will be conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award - India's highest sporting honour.

Along with Rohit, five other names were also approved by the Sports Ministry on Friday, including para-athlete Mariappan Thangavelu, table tennis champion Manika Batra, wrestler Vinesh Phogat and hockey player Rani Rampal.

The player popularly known as 'The Hitman' owing to his penchant for hitting big shots when it counts becomes only the fourth Indian cricketer to receive the honour after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Rohit had a particularly impressive showing in 2019, becoming the first batsman in history to score five centuries in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Along with his four fellow co-awardees, Rohit will receive a medallion, a certificate and a cash prize of 7.5 lakh rupees.

The awards will be presented on August 29, a date also celebrated as National Sports Day in commemoration of Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand's birthday. However, in light of the ongoing global pandemic, it is likely that the awards ceremony will be conducted virtually.

Also handed out on the day will be the Arjuna Award to 27 recipients in total, including cricketers Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma.

India’s Women’s cricket team has grown leaps and bounds over the last few years, with the likes of Shafali Varma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav and Taniya Bhatia all performing above par in the national team. With many young cricketers groomed from a very young age, it is not surprising that the team has many young stars raring to go.

On the second anniversary of T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 171 during the World Cup in 2017, we look at the top five scores by Indian cricketers in Women’s ODIs:

Mithali Raj | 125* vs Sri Lanka | Katunayake | September 2018

The Indian Women team’s ODI skipper Mithali Raj is fifth on this list after hitting an unbeaten 125 runs off 145 balls against Sri Lanka during the ICC Women's Championship in Sri Lanka in 2018. After a poor start, Raj set up an opening wicket partnership of 102 runs with Smriti Mandhana, hitting at a rate of 87.41 as the side managed to score 253 runs. However, a spirited fight by Chamari Atapattu ensured that her team managed to beat the Women in Blue by three wickets, with just one ball remaining.

Smriti Mandhana | 135 vs South Africa | Kimberley | February 2018

Smriti Mandhana single-handedly lifted her team to 302 runs during the second ODI of the ICC Women’s Championship in 2018. The opener scored 135 runs off 129 balls against the South Africans at a rate of 104.65. Her effort included 14 fours and a single six, but the real effort for the victory fell into the hands of the bowler, with Poonam Yadav picking up four wickets as the Proteas were bundled out for 124 runs. This match also saw Jhulan Goswami become the first bowler to reach 200 ODI wickets in women's cricket.

Jaya Sharma | 138* vs Pakistan | Karachi | December 2005

Jaya Sharma hit an unbeaten 138 runs off 150 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan during the Women’s Asia Cup back in 2005. Her innings was scored at a rate of 92, including 15 fours. She set up a strong 223-run partnership with Anjum Chopra, who scored 86 runs off 112 balls. The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has issued notices to Indian cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma -- all five part of the 110-strong National Registered Testing Pool -- for non-disclosure of their whereabouts. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) claims it was due to a 'password glitch'.

Even while the nation was under lockdown, it was mandatory to submit details of three months' whereabouts, with failure to comply punishable by up to two years' suspension.

Speaking to PTI about the matter, NADA General Director Navin Agarwal explained how it was also upon the federations or boards to submit the information and it was not just the players' responsibility alone.

"There are two ways to fill up the whereabouts form in the ADAMS (Anti-Doping Administration & Management Systems) software. Either athlete does it himself or association fills it up on his or her behalf."

Agarwal pointed how athletes in some discipline 'aren't educated enough' or do not have access to the internet and find themselves unable to handle the whereabouts clause of the ADAMS or upload the filled up form and turn to the assistance of their concerned federations, and that the same goes for cricket players.

"Similarly in cricket also, although these people are well qualified and they can do it, perhaps they don't have the time for whatever reasons, so the federation concerned, the BCCI has taken upon itself the responsibility of uploading their whereabouts."

The BCCI, in their defence, cited a password glitch in ADAMS that's now been resolved but a decision will still be taken, according to Agarwal.

"They have said that there has been a glitch with regards to password in ADAMS. Now they have said that issue has been resolved."

"The BCCI's explanation will be discussed as to whether it will be counted as one of three filing failures or not. It will be decided on the explanation given and how they (BCCI) proceed from here," clarified Agarwal.
