Team Abu Dhabi recorded their second successive victory in the fifth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 after defeating Northern Warriors by 21 runs on Saturday, November 20.

Captain Liam Livingstone played a fantastic innings of unbeaten 68 runs from 23 balls to help Team Abu Dhabi post a total of 132/5 in their 10 overs and thereafter the Team Abu Dhabi bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals to restrict the Warriors to 111/7.

Kennar Lewis kept the Northern Warriors in the game by thrashing Jamie Overton for three sixes in the third over, however, Danny Briggs pulled things back for Team Abu Dhabi by dismissing Samit Patel and Kennar Lewis in the next over.

Northern Warriors captain Rovman Powell took on the bowling single-handedly with an innings of 42 runs from 19 balls, but he didn't find much support from the other end. Naveen-ul-Haq tilted the match completely in Team Abu Dhabi's favour when he removed Powell and Jordan in the ninth over, leaving the Warriors 37 runs behind their target.

Earlier, the Northern Warriors bowlers kept Team Abu Dhabi in check by picking up wickets at regular intervals. The hard-hitting Paul Stirling was removed by Samit Patel for a first ball duck in the second over and the dangerous Chris Gayle was dismissed by Rayad Emrit for just 9 runs in the fifth over. The Northern Warriors were in full control of the game when they restricted Team Abu Dhabi to 80/5 in 8 overs.

However, Liam Livingstone took the responsibility and provided the impetus that his side needed. He smashed four sixes and two fours off Joshua Little's bowling in the ninth over and took Team Abu Dhabi's score to 115/5. Livingstone continued to hit the big shots, striking Chris Jordan for two sixes in the last over. Team Abu Dhabi gathered 17 runs off the last over and raised their total to a competitive one.

Dwayne Bravo's Delhi Bulls took down the defending champions Northern Warriors by six wickets in the opening match of the Abu Dhabi T10 at the  Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday. After being put into bat by the Delhi Bulls, the Warriors posted a competitive total of 107/4 in their 10 overs before breezy knocks from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (30 runs off 10 balls) and Mohammad Hafeez (31 runs off 18 balls) helped the Bulls chase down the total with one over to spare.

The Delhi Bulls got off to a great start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed J/oshua Little for a six and a four off the first two deliveries of his team's innings. Gurbaz continued to provide the perfect impetus to the Bulls' innings as he cracked Imran Tahir for three consecutive sixes in the next over. However, the Warriors didn't let the game slip away too quickly as Tahir trapped Gurbaz LBW for 30 runs (10 balls) in the second over and Abhimanyu Mithun dismissed Rilee Rossouw for 6 runs (4 balls) in the very next over.

Sherfane Rutherford took the responsibility and kept the Bulls in the game by smashing a six in each of the fourth and fifth overs, taking the score to 58/2 at the end of the fifth over. Mohammad Hafeez also got into the groove, striking Chris Jordan for three boundaries in the sixth over. With 16 runs in the sixth over, the Bulls were in the driver's seat at 74/2. Rutherford continued to find the boundaries as he smacked Little for a six and a four in the seventh over. Little dismissed Rutherford (29 runs from 15 balls) on the last ball of the seventh over and Jordan removed Hafeez in the ninth over, but Romario Shepherd kept his calm and took the Bulls home with two consecutive boundaries.

Earlier, the Northern Warriors got off to a horrendous start as Kennar Lewis was bowled out by Shiraz Ahmed in the final delivery of the first over. The Warriors were reeling at 4/1 after Lewis departed for just 2 runs off 3 balls. The Delhi Bulls continued to put the pressure on the Warriors as Ravi Rampaul picked up the team's second wicket in the fourth over. Warriors' Samit Patel was bowled out by Rampaul for 15 runs from 10 balls leaving the Warriors at 28/2.

Thereafter, Captain Rovman Powell and Moeen Ali upped the ante for the Warriors. Romario Shepherd was struck for a six and a four as he conceded 17 runs in the fifth over. Powell and Ali continued to terrifically strike the ball and smashed 23 runs off Dwayne Bravo's bowing, taking their score to 69/2 at the end of the sixth over.

Continuing their momentum, Powell smashed consecutive boundaries and Ali struck a six off Dominic Drakes's bowling in the eighth over, taking their score to 98/2. Shepherd pulled things back brilliantly for the Delhi Bulls after he bowled out Powell for 38 runs off 19 balls and conceded only 3 runs in the ninth over. Thereafter, Captain Bravo bowled a magnificent final over, dismissing Ali for 35 runs off 21 balls and conceding just 6 runs which helped the Bulls to restrict the Warriors to a total of 107/4 in 10 overs.

Team Abu Dhabi got off to a fantastic start in their first encounter of Season 5 of Abu Dhabi T10 against the Bangla Tigers at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday. Chris Gayle's unbeaten innings of 49 runs from 23 balls and Paul Stirling's knock of 59 runs from 23 balls helped Team Abu Dhabi post a total of 145/4 in their 10 overs before Marchant de Lange's bowling effort of 5/23 took Team Abu Dhabi to a 40-wicket win over the Bangla Tigers.

Andre Fletcher smacked Sheldon Cottrell for three boundaries and two sixes in the first over of Tigers' innings. However, the Tigers suffered a massive blow when Marchant de Lange dismissed Captain Faf du Plessis for nought in the very next over. Following the wicket, Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher smashed a six each, but the latter was bowled out for 24 runs (8 balls) on the last ball of the second over. Team Abu Dhabi put even more pressure on the Tigers when Captain Liam Livingstone removed Charles for 7 runs (4 balls) in the third over and thereafter Jamie Overton dismissed Will Jacks (1 run from 5 balls) leaving the Tigers at 43/4 in 3.3 overs.

Benny Howell and Hazratullah Zazai strung a partnership of 28 runs and took the Tigers to 71/4 in 6 overs, but De Lange tilted the match completely in favour of Team Abu Dhabi by dismissing Hazratullah Zazai, Benny Howell and James Faulkner in the seventh over, leaving the Tigers reeling at 81/7. Thereafter, Team Abu Dhabi bowled three clinical overs and ensured that they walked off the field as winners.

Earlier, Philip Salt and Paul Stirling got Team Abu Dhabi off to a flyer by striking a six and a four in the first five deliveries of the first over of the match. However, Luke Wood pulled things back for Bangla Tigers after running out Salt on the last delivery of the first over. Captain Liam Livingstone came in and smashed James Faulkner for two consecutive sixes in the second over, but Faulkner bowled him out on the last delivery of the second over, leaving Team Abu Dhabi at 27/2.

Thereafter, Paul Stirling and Chris Gayle started the fireworks for Team Abu Dhabi. Stirling smacked Wood for two boundaries and a six in the third over and Gayle struck three sixes and a four off Sabir Rao's bowling in the fifth over taking Team Abu Dhabi's score to 81/2 in 5 overs.

Gayle and Stirling plundered Qais Ahmad's over for 31 runs in the sixth over and added another 12 runs before Benny Howell bowled out Stirling (59 runs from 23 balls) in the seventh over. James Faulkner, Isuru Udana and Benny Howell managed to pull things back for the Bangla Tigers in the last three overs as they conceded just 21 runs in the last three overs. However, Team Abu Dhabi posted a mammoth total of 145/4 at the end of their 10 overs with Gayle remaining unbeaten on 49 runs from 23 balls.

Defending champions Northern Warriors (NW) will lock horns with Delhi Bulls (DB) in the opening match of Abu Dhabi T10 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, November 19.

NW vs DB Dream11 prediction

Northern Warriors have been the most successful franchise in Abu Dhabi T10 League, winning the title twice in 2018 and 2020. However, Warriors have a fresh set of players under new captain Rovman Powell this year but they will look to continue their dominance in the league nonetheless.

On the other hand, last year’s finalists Delhi Bulls have assembled one of the strongest batting line-ups for the fifth edition of Abu Dhabi T10. Bulls have signed England T20I captain Eoin Morgan as their star player and have the likes of Sherfane Rutherford, Rilee Rossouw and Rahmanullah Gurbaz in their squad.

Going by team combination, the Dwayne Bravo-led Delhi Warriors will start as favourites against a new-look Northern Warriors on Friday.

NW vs DB Dream11 team tips for Abu Dhabi T10 2021

Top Tip: Best batter

Delhi Bulls batter Rilee Rossouw will be the batter to watch out for in the first match of Abu Dhabi T10 2021. The former South Africa cricketer was the highest run-scorer in the recently concluded CSA Provincial T20 Cup, amassing 295 runs in five matches at a staggering average of 98.33 and strike rate of 157.75.

Top Tip: Best bowler

Considering the slowness of the pitch at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Delhi BullsAdil Rashid will be a great pick in any fantasy cricket team. The England leg-spinner impressed in the T20 World Cup 2021, picking nine wickets in six matches at an economy of 6.53. Rashid is likely to play an important role through the middle overs for Delhi Bulls.

Top Tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper

As far as all-rounders are concerned, one must pick Moeen Ali of Northern Warriors in your fantasy cricket team. The 34-year-old bagged seven wickets and also scored 92 runs in six matches in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in UAE.

For the wicket-keeper spot, Delhi BullsRahmanullah Gurbaz will be the preferred choice over the likes of Kaunain Abbas and Abdul Shakoor of Northern Warriors. Along with his wicket-keeping skills, Gurbaz can also contribute with the bat.

NW vs DB full squads

NW squad: Rovman Powell (captain), Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, Abdul Shakoor (wicket-keeper), Rayad Emrit, Samit Patel, Imran Tahir, Upul Tharanga, Kaunain Abbas (wicket-keeper), Umair Ali  Khan, Rameez Shahzad, Kennar Lewis, Abhimanyu Mithun, Josh Little, Ross Whiteley, Gareth Delaney, Yo Mahesh Vijayakumar
