The Kabaddi Premier League 2021 currently underway in Srinagar is now in its second phase with the tournament aiming to popularise the sport in the Kashmir valley.

The first phase of the tournament saw matches being played at the district level. The best teams from that stage are currently competing in the second stage, comprising 10 matches.

โ€œThe four best teams from Srinagar will qualify for the third phase who will play against four teams from Jammu,โ€ Mohammad Syed Baba, co-organiser of the Kabaddi Premier League 2021 told ANI.

โ€œThis league serves as a platform for youth. The players also get good exposure to meet other district teams and share experiences with them and get some tips from the other players that help them to give the best performance in the game,โ€ he added.ย

The tournament is being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Association.

Faizan Shafi, one of the competitors, hopes that the tournament will help the playersโ€™ cause in making it to the junior and senior national championships as well.ย ย

โ€œWe are playing after a long time,โ€ Faizan said. โ€œThis is a huge platform for us to go further.โ€

The winning team will get a chance to play in the kabaddi nationals, according to ANI.
