The sole Test match between England and Ireland at Lord’s came to an end with the British registering a thumping win by 143 runs after a nightmarish start to the match.
Tim Murtagh’s 5 for 13 in a mere nine overs destroyed the English batting lineup in the first innings making the job of the Irish batsmen easier. But the English regained composure after the first innings shock and posed a decent target of 181 runs for the Irish.
The Irish batsmen, however, couldn’t fathom the grittiness of the English pace duo - Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad. The match ended with Woakes picking up six and Broad chipping in with four wickets.

With the Irish posting the lowest Test score at Lord’s, the Twitterati was once again amazed by how the fortunes can change so quickly in the Gentlemen’s game.

England skittled out cheaply in the first innings, that's a low score not to be repeated.
Second Innings: Ireland - hold my Guinness— Matt Doy (@MattDoy)
OK, so it wasn’t me watching it that was the problem...
Run was hot and ineffective.
Congrats to outclassed in the end. Cause for optimism for boys in green, some new talent coming through. Future is bright.
And we’ll always have day 1!
