The deal, which could rise to 38 million with add-ons, was announced by both clubs on Monday with Buendia set to complete his medicals after Argentina's World Cup qualifying game against Colombia on Tuesday night.

June 3: 4:30 PM: Inzaghi appointed as Conte's successor at Inter

Serie A champions, Inter, have confirmed that former Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi has been appointed as Antonio Conte's successor. The 45-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the club.

"FC Internazionale Milano would like to welcome Simone Inzaghi to the club, as our new first-team coach: the Italian manager has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri," read an official statement from the club.

It was on May 27 that Antonio Conte left Inter by mutual consent after a disagreement with the board. It is said that the former Chelsea coach was asked to cut his wage bill to 15-20 per cent and sell players worth up to £70m in the upcoming transfer window. While Conte has left, the problem still persists, with Inzaghi being at the centre of it.

Striker Romelu Lukaku has attracted interest from across Europe while Lautaro Martinez is yet to sign a new contract. Wing-back Achraf Hakimi is gathering from Paris Saint-Germain too.

June 2: 2:40 PM: Barcelona sign Emerson Royal

Only a day after completing the deal for Eric Garcia, Barcelona completed their third signing for the 2021/22 season by exercising their option to buy for Emerson Royal from Real Betis. The 22-year-old right-back has signed a contract until 2024 with the Spanish club. The Brazil international arrived in La Liga in January 2019 in a joint financial operation between Barcelona and Real Betis. Each club paid half of his transfer fee.

Barcelona exercised their option to buy the player for ? million. The 22-year-old right-back made 79 appearances in all competitions for Betis, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.

Aguero leaves City as a club legend and their all-time top scorer. Since making his Premier League debut in the 2011-12 season, the forward made 390 appearances for the Cityzens, scoring 260. During his 10-year stint with the Manchester club, Aguero won five Premier League titles, six League Cups and one FA Cup. He came close to winning the UEFA Champions League this season, but fell short as City lost to Chelsea 1-0 in the final.

May 28: 09:30 PM: David Alaba joins Real Madrid from Bayern Munich

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of defender David Alaba on a five-year contract after leaving Bayern Munich. Alaba will be presented as a Real player after Euro 2020, the statement added.

The 28-year-old is leaving Bayern after 431 games in 13 years at the club, where he won 10 German titles and the Champions League twice.

May 28: 06:30 PM: Massimiliano Allegri returns as Juventus manager after Andrea Pirlo sacking

The ongoing January transfer window hasn't really seen much of action yet, but there could well and truly be major happenings as we progress. Here we look at what is transpiring as of yet:

Manchester United would need £90 million for Grealish

Manchester United will require a whopping £90 million if they tend to acquire Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish in the ongoing January transfer window.

Despite signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax in the summer transfer window ahead of the 2020-21 Premier League season, the Athletic quotes that United are keen on swooping the Villa midfielder, who won't really come cheap especially after signing a five-year contract in September. United's interest in Grealish dates back to the summer transfer window, but decided to back out after Villa slapped a £70m valuation on the player. This is when United decided to bring van de Beek, but with Paul Pogba's future under scrutiny, the Red Devils are keen on finding a like-to-like replacement.

Ozil in talks with DC United and Fenerbahce

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil's representatives are in talks with the likes of DC United and Fenerbahce over a possible move, but the player himself is keen on seeing out his contract, which expires at the end of the current season. The midfielder is free to negotiate a move elsewhere in the ongoing transfer window, but if he wants to leave in January, his representatives will have to speak to the club.

Ozil's agent, Dr Erkut Sogut, recently told Sky Sports: "In the next seven to 10 days it will be a little clearer."

As for the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, he was asked whether Ozil will see out his contract at the club, and the former midfielder said, "We will see what happens in the transfer window and we will assess at the end of that."

Wijnaldum's contract talks stalled

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected the new offer from the club as he believes his wages should compare to that of the team's biggest earners. Wijnaldum's contract is set to expire in the summer, and although Jurgen Klopp has expressed his desire to keep the former Newcastle United midfielder at Anfield, a potential interest from Barcelona could lure the player away.

With Ronald Koeman at the helm of the Catalan club, Barcelona may look to offer Wijnaldum a lucrative contract, but that potential move hasn't really resulted in an official offer yet. From Barcelona's perspective, there are several overriding factors, which includes the ongoing presidential elections, while Koeman's future itself is under the scanner.

Wijnaldum, on his part, was handed a new deal in December 2020 but demanded time to come up with an answer.

Gossip. Rumours. Reports. The January transfer window is less than a fortnight away and it’s that time of the year, when football aficionados keep refreshing their feeds for the latest updates.

With the Premier League table tight at the top and the title race far from being decisive, we look at the potential 2021 winter transfer targets for the top six teams.

Liverpool

The Liverpool transfer business has been hugely acknowledged in recent times. The acquisition of Mohammad Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alison in 2017 have made Jurgen Kloop’s men one of the best teams in Europe. However, they have been pegged back with some injury concerns of late.

Diego Carlos - The Reds' primary need this winter would be a central defender. With Dejan Lovren moving away and Joel Matip getting interests from Paris Saint-Germain, the defending PL champions are in need of a defender. Van Dijk’s injury has not helped the dilemma. A 27-year old defender plying his trade in La Liga side Sevilla, Diego Carlos could be a good option for Jurgen Klopp. With Liverpool previously showing interest in the Brazilian we wouldn’t be surprised if they take a step further.

Ben White - Brighton defender Ben White is another option for the Reds?CB role. The defender, who is just 22-years-old, already has a market value of around 50 million pounds. White had helped Leeds gain promotion last season and was on loan to Brighton before joining permanently. The young, solid defender might be the perfect fit for Liverpool.

Jeremy Doku - Another youngster who might make the move to Anfield this winter could be Rennes forward Jeremy Doku. The 18-year old could be a potential back-up to Liverpool’s forward line of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohammed Salah and Diogo Jota. With reports suggesting that his profile could be a fit for the champions, a January transfer might be too soon but he’s surely one on the watchlist.

Manchester City

The Cityzens have never shied away from spilling the cash ruthlessly on their transfer targets and with Pep Guardiola constantly being backed by the board, it seems that there is still that missing puzzle in the squad. So, who are on the oil-rich club’s radar?

Paulo Dybala - It’s evident that Pep’s team is missing the player who gets into that pocket of space to create scoring opportunities. The 2018 champions are still finding a replacement for David Silva who made his move to Real Sociedad last summer. Dybala has 18 months left in his contract with Juventus and will look to secure a long term future for himself. There is no question about his ability with the ball and City scouts will certainly have his name on their cards.

Diego Rosa - One of the more likely transfers to happen this January is Gremino’s South American midfield player Diego Rosa, who has been on the Blues watchlist for sometime now. Rosa was part of the U-17 WC winning squad of Brazil and would be Guardiola’s second signing from that team. His transfer amount might rise close to 20 million pounds and would most likely be loaned out for the rest of the season.

Declan Rice - Fernandinho’s contract ends after this season and there are question marks if the 35-year-old will serve any longer. One possible replacement is West Ham United’s Declan Rice. With the ability to play in both midfield and defense, the 21-year old could be the perfect like-for-like replacement for the Bralizian.

Chelsea

Frank Lampard went all out before the start of the season with a number of star signings coming to Stamford Bridge. But, the Blues are far from covering up all their bases and owner Roman Abramovich would like to back the manager.

Declan Rice - Lampard is looking to boost the defensive side of his team and the West Ham star could easily be pocketed by the Blues. Rice was a Chelsea graduate before he was released to West Ham and has done well for himself earning a national call-up. The 21-year old had mentioned in the past that he would love to play alongside Mason Mount and co. Chelsea who apparently tried to sign him before could make that move now since the boss will be selling quite a few players this window.

Matthew Bondswell - Chelsea are considering a move for RB Leipzig’s full back Matthew Bondswell, who could be a possible reserve for Ben Chilwell. The defender is currently on loan to a Dutch side for this season. The 18-year old was a regular England player since the U-15 level and has enough experience to test the waters on the biggest stage.

David Alaba - One of the hottest free agents this winter is Austria’s David Alaba. There were early talks about Alaba moving to Chelsea and the Blues are still keeping tabs on him. The 28-year-old’s versatility makes him a top buy for any club in Europe but the Bayern Munich player has a heavy wage demand is a mighty factor that might prevent Chelsea from making the move.

Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been quite active in recent transfer windows and we wouldn’t be surprised if he makes more business this winter. United are still in search of a centre-back and a right-winger. Here’s a look at their potential targets.

Dayot Upamecano - United were interested in pairing Upamecano with Harry Maguire before the start of the season but for some reason that didn’t work out. The 22-year old has impressed everybody with his ability with the ball in Germany and reports suggest that Upamecano has shown his willingness to play in the Premier League.

Kalidou Koulibaly - Another player in demand this winter is Kalidou Koulibaly. Reports suggest that Napoli is ready to sell him and he could be on his way to Old Trafford. However, there are other reports that suggest that the Reds have already made a bid for the Senegalese player.

Jack Grealish - The Aston Villa captain has been on Ole’s wishlist for sometime now. Had Villa failed to stay in the top division last season, Grealish might have already been on the United flanks today. With Manchester pulling out of the Sancho deal last summer, Jack Grealish could really make an effective alternative.

Arsenal

The Gunners have probably had one of their worst starts to a PL season and a grey cloud looms large over Mikel Arteta and his staff. Arsenal will have to change their fortunes quickly if they want to give themselves any realistic hope of a place in Europe and this winter window might just be the opening. The Arsenal director pointed out that they lack creativity in the middle and it’s more or less confirmed that the North London side will purchase a creative midfielder.

Papu Gomez - Gomez has had a rift with his manager in Atalanta and this could be a major reason for his departure from the club. The 32-year old might not have age on his side but his consistent performances make him a prime prospect. The Argentine has provided 37 assists in the last three seasons, more than any other player in Italy’s top flight.

Houssem Aouar - The name Houssem Aouar is no stranger to an Arsenal fan. The club was monitoring him closely over the last summer and after a failed move, they would love to go all out for him this time as well. The 22-year old has already contributed to goals and assists in the league this season and the number 10 role suits him fine. His attacking mindset could be the solution to Arteta’s lack of goals this season.

Pascal Gross - The Brighton player is not the biggest name in the window but he has proven his Premier League acumen. The German keeps Seagulls ticking and has created plenty of chances for them. He is also good with the dead-ball and can improve that department for Arsenal. With Arsenal lacking in the creative department, Gross might not be the worst option at a budget price if negotiated well.

Tottenham Hotspur FC

Arkadiusz Milik - The Polish striker is out of contract in the summer and this window would determine his future. Napoli are demanding 14 million for the striker and that wouldn’t be asking for too much, considering he has scored around 50 goals for the club. Jose has had a good run in the league so far, and would want to strengthen his squad depth for the second half of the season. Milik has been linked with Spurs on a few occasions now and we will have to wait and see what they make of it.

Wout Weghorst - The Dutch international revealed that he nearly made a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier before Spurs signed Carlos Vinicius on loan. Weghorst too has been linked with Jose men and was on the right track. The Wolfsburg player has been directly involved in quite a few goals this season but the German club is willing to let him go if a reasonable deal is offered.

Milan Skriniar - Another central defender tipped to be on the road is Milan Skriniar. Spurs currently prefer the pairing of Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld but will look to add to their depth. Skriniar was apparently deemed expensive last summer and Jose had to go with a young Rondon instead. However, if Spurs want to fight for the title, Skriniar would definitely be someone Mourinho would love to have.

Premier League football returns after the mid-week UEFA Champions League action, and as the competition is now five games old, we have a pretty decent idea about who to pick in the fantasy teams. Some exciting rounds of games await, and we believe these five names will bring you a lot of luck this week:

Player: Jack Grealish

Team: Aston Villa

Match: Aston Villa vs Leeds United

Aston Villa’s scorching start to the new Premier League season is largely owed to a brilliant form of their captain and midfielder Jack Grealish. In four appearances this season, the 25-year-old has contributed in as many as six goals (three goals and three assists). Riding high on confidence, Grealish’s Villa welcome Leeds United on Friday night (Saturday midnight as per IST). Leeds have had a decent start to the season, but kept a solitary clean sheet so far, and with Villa banging in goals left, right and centre, expect Grealish to be the focal point.

Player: Sergio Aguero

Team: Manchester City

Match: West Ham United vs Manchester City

With several first-team players out nursing injuries, Pep Guardiola is certain to rely on his striker Sergio Aguero when they take on West Ham United on Saturday. West Ham have scored 16 goals in their last five appearances in all competitions but managed to keep their goal clean on just two occasions. City, on the other hand, have rightly been wobbly, but scored in all of their games so far this season. As far as Aguero is concerned, he scored in his last outing - a 3-1 win over Porto in the Champions League - and will be hoping for more of the same on Saturday.

Player: Bruno Fernandes

Team: Manchester United

Match: Manchester United vs Chelsea

The fact that Bruno Fernandes has been directly involved in 19 goals in his 18 Premier League appearances for Manchester United (11 goals, 8 assists) represents a significant worry for Chelsea. Like Manchester City, United have been extremely unpredictable but their record against Chelsea gives them an edge. Fernandes is arguably United’s most influential player and he has continued to dominate the proceedings. In his four Premier League outings, the Portuguese has bagged three goals and two assists, and one can expect another stern performance from the former Sporting man.

Player: Sadio Mane

Team: Liverpool

Match: Liverpool vs Sheffield United

Liverpool take on Sheffield United on Saturday night (Sunday midnight as per IST) with a hope of extending their unbeaten Premier League run at Anfield to 62 matches. And one man who can have a big say in it is Sadio Mane. Sheffield are one of the four teams that are yet to win a game this season, and the fact that their defence has conceded seven goals works well for Mane and Co. The Senegalese has scored four goals in his last four appearances, including a brace against Chelsea, and he is highly tipped to do the same against the Blades.

Player: Son Heung-Min

Team: Tottenham Hotspur

Match: Burnley vs Tottenham

Tottenham blew their 3-0 advantage against West Ham United last time out but on Monday night (Tuesday midnight as per IST), they are likely to come out with all three points as they face Burnley away from home. And as one can expect, Son Heung-Min is going to be extremely integral. The South Korean has bagged seven goals and two assists in five Premier League games, and the number is only expected to be on the rise from here on. Given Burnley’s defensive frailties, the 28-year-old will be looking forward to piling further misery. A must-have in your team.

With the return of Premier League action just around the corner, we can rest assured that Fantasy lovers from across the globe are gearing up and looking ahead to the new season with excitement. Ahead of the first gameweek of the new Premier League season, we decided to take a look at a few bargain buys who can get you valuable points without eating into most of the budget of your team.

James Tarkowski ?5.5m

Even though James Tarkowski won’t be in action in the first gameweek of the Premier League’s return, the Burnley centre-back would be a smart acquisition to have in your team for the rest of the season. Tarkowski’s part of a stubborn Burnley backline that doesn’t leak many goals and is also a capable contributor with goals, particularly from set-pieces, at the other end of the pitch. He was one of the best defenders in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) last season with 15 clean sheets, two goals and three assists to his name. Available for just 5.5m, adding him to your squad now could be a prudent choice before his price starts to inflate as the season progresses.

Ryan Fraser ?6m

An exciting and pacey attacking outlet that provides plenty of width, many clubs will want former Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser in their team. The Scottish winger endured an underwhelming campaign with Bournemouth last season and didn’t feature for the now relegated team regularly. His total of one goal scored and five assists last season was a major letdown from his numbers in the 2018-19 campaign that read seven goals and 14 assists. However, now with Newcastle United, expect Fraser to rediscover his form with the Tyneside club, which makes him a value buy at just 6m.

Bukayo Saka ?5.5m

One of the biggest revelations from last season, Bukayo Saka looks poised to kick on and take his game to the next level. Still available for just 5.5m, the English youngster could prove to be a steal if he starts the new season in the same manner in which he finished the last. He contributed a goal as well as six assists for the Gunners last season and has been widely tipped to do even better in the upcoming campaign. The youngster, in fact, showed that he’s looking sharp in Arsenal’s FA Community Shield win by providing the assist for their goal and will be hoping for more of the same once the season gets underway.

Jack Grealish ?7m

At 7m, Jack Grealish is the most expensive buy on this list. However, the English playmaker is still a value buy at that price and is sure to get you points if you have him in your team. The Aston Villa playmaker played a starring role for his team last season as Villa narrowly beat the drop to earn themselves another season in England’s top-flight. He scored eight goals, provided seven assists and notched up 149 FPL points last campaign. With the experience of a full Premier League campaign under his belt, expect him to top those numbers in the coming season, making him a smart choice for your team before his price starts to soar.

Neal Maupay ?6.5m

One of Brighton & Hove Albion’s biggest threats over the course of the 2019-20 season, Frenchman Neal Maupay will be keen to prove that he’s more than just a one-season hit and can deliver consistently in the Premier League. Maupay scored crucial goals for Brighton last season and helped them stay up. He notched up 131 FPL points, scoring 10 goals and three assists along the way. He will be looking to kick on in the new season and is in a good position to do so in manager Graham Potter’s attack-minded Brighton team, making him a smart choice to have in your team at 6.5m.

"All of a sudden it's making sense," wrote a user on Twitter as Manchester United fans are asking the club to move their attention to Ajax's Donny van de Beek and Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara instead of buying Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

The Bayern Munich midfielder, who was key to the Bavarian's success in the Champions League this season, is strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, but the negotiations have hit a rock as the Reds keep on refusing to meet Bayern's asking price of ?0m. Earlier this month, journalist Fabrizio Romano had confirmed that Liverpool are in contact with Bayern over a potential bargain, but the European Champions want nothing less than the aforementioned asking fee.

In a recent update, Bayern have issued a warning, saying that if Liverpool can't pay ?0m for the midfielder, they will start listening to offers from other suitors as well.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently in talks with Ajax for Donny van de Beek. The Eredivisie side are open to letting their midfielder leave for ?0m, and as the club share a good relationship, the deal might actually go through. United, as of now, are yet to make a signing and there has been no notable development in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho as well.

They were reported to be in contact with Aston Villa for midfielder Jack Grealish as well, but the Villans are holding on their reported £75million asking fee. And following all these happenings in the transfer market, United fans now want their club to enter the negotiations for van de Beek and Thiago as the duo will cost significantly lesser than the Villa midfielder.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have made significant headway into the transfer market, while other clubs across Europe are also busy acquiring suitable acquisitions for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

Amongst all the other news though, a certain Lionel Messi remains on the top of the chart after expressing his dissatisfaction with Barcelona. The global pandemic has certainly altered the approach of most of the clubs in the market, but the buzz of activity is the same as always.

That said, here are some of the top transfer stories from Europe:

Tottenham reject Aurier bid

Serge Aurier’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur is all but imminent. The 27-year-old right-back, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for £23m, has already been replaced by Matt Doherty, but his reported move to AC Milan has hit a rock as Spurs recently rejected the Rossoneri's first bid for the player.

Sky Sports say that both Tottenham and AC Milan remain way apart in their valuations of the Ivory Coast international. The twist in the tale, though, remains an interest of Bayer Leverkusen as well. Whoever bids the highest, gets the player.

Bayern out of Messi race

Since expressing his discontent with Barcelona, Lionel Messi has been linked with a number of clubs including Manchester City, PSG, and even Manchester United. Amongst the many were the recently crowned UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich, but club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled his side out from the race.

"No. We can't pay a player of that size. It is not part of our policy and philosophy," Rummenigge told Tuttosport.

“Honestly, hearing that Messi could leave Barcelona makes me a little sad. Leo has written the history of that club and in my opinion, he should end his career with the Blaugrana.

“There are internal and private aspects there that I don't know about and that is why I will not interfere.?/span>

While Bayern have distanced themselves from the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City remain firm favourites to land the Argentine, with reports emerging that he is in touch with Guardiola over a potential move.

United in talks with Villa for Jack Grealish

Manchester United are yet to make a mark in the ongoing transfer market but it is being quoted that they are in talks with Aston Villa over a potential move for midfielder Jack Grealish.

As per the Daily Mail, the two clubs have spoken over the past week, and as far as Grealish himself is concerned, he is looking forward to joining a team that plays in the Champions League. Villa, meanwhile, are adamant about keeping the midfielder, but they won’t stand in the way if a suitable fee is put on the table.

It is believed that the midfielder is rated at £75m by his club. But in order to lower the fee, United could offer a couple of players as part of the negotiation, which includes a move for goalkeeper Sergio Romero on loan, while full-back Diogo Dalot remains a possibility as well.

“We’re still not where we want to be, close enough to challenge for the Premier League trophy but we take one step at a time,?Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had said when asked about whether his team was ready to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the title.

Take note; one step at a time.

Manchester United, as things stand, are unbeaten in their last 14 games in all competitions, but the bigger picture remains that they are still off of achieving the final UEFA Champions League spot in the league, having acquired sixth place in the standings.

It’s quite early to judge Solskjaer in his first full season, to say the least, but if he tends to stay at the helm, results need to be more consistent. Having already brought in necessary reinforcement in the previous summer, it’s time for him to dive into the market once again in order to take his beloved United to the top.

Having said that, we look at five players that Solskjaer might be very interested in bringing to Old Trafford.

Jack Grealish

United, regardless of having a star-studded midfield, lack a leader, and this is exactly what Jack Grealish would bring. And given that Aston Villa are on the verge of being relegated to the Championship, it wouldn’t be hard for United to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams.

Grealish, as we have seen this year, is a typical English midfielder, who not only contributes to the attack but also loves to do the dirty work. Not afraid of a challenge, the 24-year-old’s work-rate is something that would interest Solskjaer. That, added with his movement both on and off the ball, coupled with his ability to add pace in the counters is likely to make an already frightening United attack more lethal.

Wilfred Ndidi

With Nemanja Matic ageing, United will be on the hunt for a cover for their back-four, and as of this moment, no one comes close to Leicester City’s Wilfried Ndidi.

The 23-year-old, who joined Leicester City in January 2017 from Genk, holds a stupendous record in the league, averaging 3.8 tackles and 2.7 interceptions per game. Known for his sheer concentration, the Nigerian’s addition would provide both Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes significant freedom to do the damage upfront.

Ndidi is someone who loves to put his body on the line, much like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and his awareness of spotting potential danger somewhat remains underrated equity. He could possibly be one of the finest additions under Solskjaer.

Philippe Coutinho

This might very well seem like a long shot, but just imagine an attack consisting of Philippe Coutinho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Three pace merchants wreaking havoc would be a heavenly sight for every Manchester United faithful.

As things stand, despite a decent return of eight goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich while on loan from Barcelona, the Brazilian remains an unwanted commodity at both these clubs.

Luring him to Old Trafford would be an arduous task for Solskjaer given his past with Liverpool, and that, coupled with Barcelona’s asking price might complicate the matter further. But that doesn’t mean the parties can’t reach the middle ground. At 28, the speedster still has a lot to offer, and given his six years of experience in the Premier League, it won’t take long for him to assert his authority.

Jonathan Tah

A key player for Bayer Leverkusen for quite some time now, center-back Jonathan Tah is one of the most underrated defenders in all of Europe.

Known for his sheer technical approach coupled with a calm head on his shoulders, the 24-year-old would be an ideal signing for Manchester United, who only have three main center-backs in Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire at their disposal.

The nine-time capped German international made 25 Bundesliga appearances this season and averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 3.8 clearances per game. His current situation at Leverkusen, however, is quite bewildering, having fallen behind Sven Bender and January signing Edmond Tapsoba in the pecking order. And although he remains positive about his future, an offer from Manchester United could prove to be too tempting to decline.

Moussa Dembele

A goalscoring machine at Celtic and now at Lyon, 23-year-old Moussa Dembele has been tipped to arrive in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

Having scored 42 goals in 88 appearances for the French side in all competitions, Dembele could be that wildcard that United desperately needs in attack. Being versatile enough means he can operate either in a three-man attack system or even as a sole central striker. And the one thing he’d guarantee is goals.

Known for his poaching skills, Dembele is your ‘Fox in the Box?who not only bags you the goal, but his extensive work-rate means he also brings others into play. Watching him combining with both Rashford and Martial would be a sheer delight for United fans.

The 2019/20 season of the Premier League has been full of surprises. Starting right from Liverpool's stellar run to West Ham's poor performance, the season has overturned many predictions that were being made before it started.

Not just only teams, but some popular players have gone through a rough patch of form as well. However, like Liverpool, there have been players who have surprised everyone with their performance and thus their stocks have only gone on to rise this season. Let's have a look at three of those players.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)

There were a lot of questions about his quality as a striker in the Premier League until last season. However, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation this time around, having scored a personal best of 13 goals in 22 games for Everton. That includes goals against top teams like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. Such has been his form this season that he has even overshadowed Everton's star forward Richarlison, who has netted 10 goals so far.

Calvert-Lewin had almost played almost the same number of minutes in the last two seasons, but had scored fewer goals. He had scored four goals along with eight assists in a total of 1871 minutes in the 2017/18 season and followed that up with six goals and five assists in 1769 minutes in the 2018/19 season. So it's clear how his finishing abilities have improved this season and that is the reason why the 23-year-old has become Carlo Ancelotti's frontman for the club.

Dean Henderson (Sheffield United)

Almost all clubs who progress into the top flight from the Championship like to bolster their squad with an experienced shot-stopper. However, Sheffield United retained their faith in England's U-21 goalkeeper Dean Henderson who had been terrific during their 2018/19 season in the Championship. Playing in the Premier League was expected to be a stern test for Henderson but he showed that he is as good as any other shot-stopper in the competition.

The 23-year-old has 10 clean sheets to his name this season, the second-most in the entire league, and has made 70 saves with a save percentage of 75% as well. He has played a key role to help Sheffield being the second most successful team in terms of goals conceded (25) this season. Hence, Henderson definitely has bigger and better things coming for him in the future.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

It was due to Jack Grealish's sublime form towards the business end of the 2018/19 EFL Championship that Aston Villa could make their way into the Premier League. However, there was always a question mark over how he would be able to cope with the standards of the Premier League. But the 25-year-old cleared out all doubts as he emerged as one of the most prolific playmakers in the league during the season.

Even though Aston Villa struggled as a unit (they stood at 19th in the table when coronavirus pandemic brought the sporting world to a standstill), Grealish was highly impressive as he scored seven goals and assisted six times for the club. Such performances have made Manchester United highly interested in acquiring his services. Hence, we might see the Villa skipper donning the United jersey next season.

Aston Villa captain, Jack Grealish has been in fine form in the 2019/20 season of the Premier League. He scored seven goals and assisted seven times in a total of 27 appearances for the club this season and has been their only bright spark in what has been a disappointing season for them otherwise.

Before the coronavirus pandemic brought the sporting world to a standstill, Villa were second from the bottom and hence, there is a good chance that they might even be relegated at the end of the season. But the 24-year-old Grealish has better things coming his way as Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are reportedly chasing him for his signature. However, among these clubs, it is the Red Devils who are believed to be the frontrunners in the race.

United were also interested in signing Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, but according to reports, they have been put off by Maddison's huge transfer fee demand. That's why they are chasing the talented Grealish who is expected to be available at a much lower fee. But the question that needs to be asked is -- Where does Grealish fit into United's set up? Let's take a look at his strengths and the position he is comfortable playing in to find out.

The 24-year-old is mainly an attacking midfielder who is equally adept in scoring and creating chances for other players as well. He plays behind the striker as a central attacking midfielder at Villa but he is equally strong playing in the left-wing as well.

Read | Premier League team of the season ?Excluding top six clubs

But Manchester United already have some very strong players in those two positions. They signed Bruno Fernandes recently for their attacking midfield role and he has been a huge success at that position so far. Moreover, they have as many as three players -- Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Marcus Rashford -- who specialize in playing from the left-wing position as well. So Grealish doesn't appear to fit into any of these roles.

The Red Devils are weaker in the centre forward and right-wing positions, and Grealish neither has much experience in those roles nor he is comfortable playing in those positions. So it would be better for United to look for players who specialize in those roles.

Moreover, reports suggest it will cost around £70m to bring Grealish to Old Trafford and spending that much for a player who doesn't fit in the set up that well, even if he is being signed to strengthen the bench, doesn't make sense at all.
