With the conclusion of the Esports World Cup 2025 this August 24, the proud victors from different titles and events have finally been announced. Fans around the world celebrated as top teams and players etched their names in esports history, showcasing months of preparation, skill, and passion. From high-stakes finals to unforgettable plays, the champions of this year’s tournament proved why they are deserving winners.

The Esports World Cup 2025

The 2025 Esports World Cup was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, organised by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and ESL FACEIT Group. It was the second edition of the event, which first began in 2023 as a rebranded and expanded version of Gamers8.

Each game had its own way of qualifying players or teams, but the finals all came together under the Esports World Cup. Along with the main tournaments, there was a Club Competition where esports teams earned points across different games to compete for the overall crown.

The Esports World Cup Foundation has announced that Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is set to host the first Esports Nations Cup in November 2026. This exciting event will occur every two years, featuring national teams in North America, South America, Europe, MENA, Africa, Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

The event will have both team-based and solo games. Players can join by world rankings, regional events, or wildcard spots. This way, it stays fair and open for everyone. The ENC will offer guaranteed prize pools for all titles included, with organisers assuring that the tournament will be fair.

Game publishers such as Electronic Arts, Krafton, Tencent, and Ubisoft will be involved in the event, which means that popular games of first-person shooters, battle royale, sports simulations, and MOBAs will appear in the competition.

This upcoming esports tournament will prepare Riyadh, as Saudi Arabia will also host the Olympics Esports Games in 2027, another massive esports event.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is set to make good on their promise at the 142nd IOC Session in July 2024 about creating the Olympic Esports Games. It is organised in partnership with the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) and the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF). 

The inaugural Olympic Esports Games was originally scheduled for 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but it was postponed to a later date. On February 11, 2025, the IOC officially declared the event’s continuation in 2027. 

Details are yet to be finalised

The IOC plans to reveal the list of games for the inaugural Olympic Esports Games in 2025. While no official titles are confirmed, there are some clues for speculation. 

Riyadh, the host of the Olympic Esports Games in 2027, recently hosted the 2024 Esports World Cup, a multi-game tournament organised by the EWCF. The events include the following categories: fighting games, first-person shooters, and sports video games.
