With the conclusion of the Esports World Cup 2025 this August 24, the proud victors from different titles and events have finally been announced. Fans around the world celebrated as top teams and players etched their names in esports history, showcasing months of preparation, skill, and passion. From high-stakes finals to unforgettable plays, the champions of this year’s tournament proved why they are deserving winners.

The Esports World Cup 2025

The 2025 Esports World Cup was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, organised by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and ESL FACEIT Group. It was the second edition of the event, which first began in 2023 as a rebranded and expanded version of Gamers8.

Each game had its own way of qualifying players or teams, but the finals all came together under the Esports World Cup. Along with the main tournaments, there was a Club Competition where esports teams earned points across different games to compete for the overall crown.

Event overview: Dates, location and scope

MSC 2025 runs from July 10 to August 2 in Riyadh, the second time it's held outside Southeast Asia. The tour starts with the Wildcard Stage, moves to the Group Stage, and ends with the Knockout Stage.

  • The top two teams advance to the Wildcard Playoffs

MLBB’s Mid‑Season Cup debuts internationally with a fresh format

The Wildcard Stage runs from July 10 to 13 and now uses a Bo3 double-elim GSL format, where the top teams cross over to the semis for a shot at the group stage. The Group Stage follows from July 23 to 27, shifting from Bo2 to Bo3 double-elim, with 16 teams split into two groups.

The Knockout Stage takes place from July 30 to August 2 and remains single elimination, but now adds a third-place match. Also new is the draw rule�� teams from groups get to pick their opponent, based on match time.

Inside the format: How the battle unfolds

MSC 2025 brings together teams from 16 regions, with Japan (ZETA DIVISION) and Vietnam (Legion Esports) entering the Wild Card stage. Eight Wild Card teams will clash for one slot in the Main Stage, where 16 squads enter a Bo3 double-elim group fight.

Co-hosting MSC 2025 with the Esports World Cup reflects MOONTON’s push for a broader, global stage. With MLBB reaching 2.38 million peak viewers in 2024, the move taps into mobile esportsâ€?fastest-growing fan base. 

The joint stage also highlights MOONTON’s drive to build a more open, high-stakes scene for all regions. As the battle will heat up in Riyadh, MSC is a bold sign of where mobile esports is headed.

Thai Dota 2 player Nuengnara �3savage�Teeramahanon has returned to Talon Esports to compete in the new season. After seven months playing in Europe, 23savage is back in Southeast Asia on loan from OG to help Talon strengthen their roster.

23savage joined OG in late 2024, hoping to take on new challenges. He played with big names like Leon ‘Nine�Kirilin and Sébastien ‘Ceb�Debs. However, the team didn’t perform well and missed key tournaments, including ESL One Bangkok 2024. In March 2025, OG released its players after poor results.

Now, 23savage is back with Talon. He will play with midlaner Mikoto from Indonesia, team captain KuKu from the Philippines, offlaner Ws from Malaysia, and support player Jhocam from Indonesia.

Fans are excited to see 23savage return. He played a big role in Talon’s success, helping them finish third at the Lima Major and Riyadh Masters 2023. The Thai star also holds the top spot on the Southeast Asia MMR leaderboard.

Talon will compete in DreamLeague Season 26 starting May 19. The team aims to qualify for the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh this July.
